If Trump is responsible for 1-6, then,,,

Biden is responsible for the increased violence against conservatives.

Several instances of political violence, many with victims supporting conservative causes, have occurred since President Biden warned of the alleged threat that supporters of former President Trump pose to the country, including attacks on anti-abortion activists and political canvassers and the murder of an 18-year-old in North Dakota.

How does a conference expect a school to prevent field/court storming?

I'm sure this has probably been hashed out in one of the long threads related to the fine... But in the Big 12's release Yormark was quoted mentioning that Tech has a solid event management plan in place to ensure safety for all fans, officials and student-athletes... but something to the effect of it failing regardless.

So how does a conference expect a school to prevent 10,000 excited, rowdy and (many at least) drunk college age students from rushing the field? I don't think an increase in security numbers will help that. I don't think a $50,000 fine will do that. A public reprimand sure as hell isn't going to do it. So then, how is it accomplished? What can the (not Tech specifically) school do, if anything, without discouraging student attendance and passion?

Tech's football schedule

So I was looking at ESPN and thought about this while writing another post.

McGuire and Tech this year got a HARD schedule. Right now he is facing at a min five Top 25 teams in his first six games. There is a possibility outside of WVU and ISU, Tech will be facing a top 25 team the entire season (9 total).

How does that rank with previous seasons.
Tech faced at most since 2007 6 Top 25 AP teams. (2011 and 2012). Tech has faced 5 top 25 teams in 2008, 2013, 2015).

I know a lot of us are really passionate about this program and games like Nc State and KSU are rough to stomach. But in the big scheme of stuff, this is a rebuilding year with a tough path to 6 wins. I do really believe the 2023 and 2024 seasons are going to be a lot different but just like KU or BU when they had rebuilding years, at least we beat Texas.

Have a good Sunday and hope you have a blessed day

How to defend Tech's offense (after five games)

Kansas State did a good job defending our underneath stuff. Much better than Texas did. On passes thrown within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, Donovan was 24/27 for just 133 yards. They were letting us catch it, and immediately making the tackle. Only 8 of those pass attempts lead to first downs, which indicates these pass attempts were, generally, not drive sustaining.

I thought the post/point above from 409 deserved it's own thread. It's spot on from him and really hasn't been discussed much in the last few weeks.

It's particularly disconcerting because it's now officially the template for how to beat this team. Because of the weakness at QB and LT. And pretty much any defense can do it because it's not hard to do.

Basically as an opposing DC you are totally fine letting Tech/Donovan:

1. Beat you deep
2. Beat you with long sustained drives down the field

You play zone crowd the line of scrimmage and squat on everything underneath. It also supports the run defense (which Tech doesn't do particularly well either).

Concerning #1
-Donny has proven that he's not a gifted deep ball thrower. So the likelihood of a completion is low.
- Tech doesn't have WRs with speed that you are worried about so it's not likely any of them get past your deepest DB.
- Tech doesn't have a OL that can pass pro long enough to complete deep passes. (See poor LT play)

So basically one entire component of Tech's (or any) offense is basically useless. You don't even really have to blitz.

Concerning #2
- The likelyhood of Donovan making consecutive good decisions and completions on multiple drives throughout the game is low.
- The likelihood of Donovan throwing a pick at least once, and perhaps twice, during the game is not insignificant. The more passes he throws, the more opportunities there are for him to throw a pick.
- Because of poor O-line play, the likelihood of a negative play is very high. Negative plays kill drives.
- How many 4th downs can Tech actually convert? Not all of them so your going to stop a few.

My Thoughts: SWOT Analysis

Strengths:
1. Our grit to stay in a game that could have gotten out of hand early.
2. We didn’t get gashed on Special Teams
3. End of the first half streak for 10 points. Second half steak of 10 points.
Weak
Weaknesses:
1. Offensive line. I try not to call out players.
2. Slow decision making, including turnovers: I try not to call out players.
3. Run D although I HATE blaming D this year bc they kept us in all games, the yards against aren’t good. Call it what it is.
Opportunities:
1. We had an opportunity to take the lead with a fg in the 3rd with a 20-20 game.
2. We had the opportunity to convert some 4th down conversions that didn’t go out way today.
3. We had the opportunity to cut it to a 1 score game at the end.
Threats:
1. Cowards: that reffing crew had a black sheep. Someone is a coward. How do you blow the whistle mid play and not fess up. Cowardly! I wish JM got more angry.
2. Turnovers: C’mon man
3. QB pressure/sacks: C’mon man

I wanted to extend the invite to any Dallas-Fort Worth area Red Raiders...the Tech vs. K-State game will be on the televisions, as one of the owners is a Red Raider, and there is plenty of room and plenty of good beer to go around.

take a look and come see us, if possible...I will be working the line with my brothers, but please make sure to say hello.

STORY: My thoughts: Texas Tech shows fight but fails to K-State in the end

- Back-to-back weeks to do something Texas Tech hadn't done since 2008 was too much to ask for. They haven't won in Manhattan since then.

- This one was a true rollercoaster. I never really felt like the Red Raiders were out of it until they went up 37-20. That was the nail to me. They continued to fight like they have all year. It's definitely not a thing you hang your hat on following a loss or really a huge positive since you failed to get the win, but this team could've easily been done and folded up after the first quarter if wasn't for tough defense to keep you around in the first half. I always start by giving credit to Keith Patterson for establishing a foundation behind players he brought in and now Tim DeRuyter coaching them up and positioning them to make plays. They'll bounce back... A lot to learn from this one.

- The first quarter was just so bad. The wheels didn't start going until the final two drives of the half, which against a team like Kansas State is too late.

- The defense was solid but explosive plays are killer. They made mistakes including safeties Dadrion Taylor and Reggie Pearson, mainly Rabbit from what I saw on film, get beat by Adrian Martinez. He and Deuce Vaughn made it look too, too easy in the open field. The ability for them to get by the second level was too easy. At first, Vaughn looked to be following in Bijan Robison's footsteps in struggling against the Red Raiders but as we saw it didn't quite hold up this week.

- K-State lives off of explosive plays. Adrian Martinez has changed my mind. He is not the same player that he was at Nebraska. They have a legit chance at competing for the top of the Big 12.

- Xavier White immediately stepped up with the departure of Myles Price due to injury. He was a late-impact guy. I enjoyed what he did as well as Trey Cleveland including the one-hand grab while being absolutely held and grabbed.

- Tyree Wilson's résumé for the NFL continues to grow after today. He got pressure on Martinez and was disruptive upfront. He hasn't had a bad game all year really and shines on film. I'm super excited to see where he takes his game the rest of the season.

- The inconsistency of Donovan Smith will make it a clear decision, in my opinion, to just move back to Tyler Shough once he's cleared. My initial feeling going to Stillwater is not great. That gives you a bye week then game week to prep with Shough for West Virginia. Donovan's first quarter was tough to watch then again in the second half. I thought he made a for sure turnaround in the second and then early in the third. He was striving and looking good. Then they abandoned the run game a bit when tied. A frustrating thing to watch, and the broadcasters brought this up, is a feel of no urgency. Another frustrating point is his inability to somehow not sense the pressure in the pocket. His pocket presence just seems not existent most of the time. K-State has terrific pass rushers so there's that but we've seen Donovan and the pocket just collapse.

- You could quickly be sitting at 3-3 after next week's game against Oklahoma State. This one would've been a big win on the road and put you in a great spot. Looking at the next month - it could be 3-3 going into WVU. I expect a homecoming win over the Mountaineers to put you at 4-3. What follows is tough with Baylor, TCU and now a Kansas team that's going to compete. Buckle up and hope Shough can get this offense into a consistent flow the second half of the year.

Running QBs

I think we all agree the defense is in good hands and has help win games this year. Here is one concern moving forward the running QB. The QBs tech played before today. Tune (very overrated), Leary ( looks to stay in the pocket), Card ( on a bad ankle still got some long runs).

Martinez is a lot like these other guys Dugan (TCU) , Daniels (KU) , Sanders (OSU). Martinez probably the best runner but these others could give us fits. Hopefully we learn some thing from the big plays given up today

RRS Gameday Loss Threads

I have been off RRS since the early Kliff days and renewed my sub after JM was hired. So, this is my first year back on, and I must say I forgot about the gross overreactions of otherwise rational grown a** men. Below is the general tone I've noticed in gameday threads during losses:

Pre-game (beers 1, 2, & 3): Natty Champeenship, baby!
Kickoff (beers #4 & 5): Let's go, Tech!
2nd qtr (beers #6 & 7): I could do better! (insert name) sucks! Bench him!
Halftime (beer 8): We can come back. The coordinators will make adjustments. Joey will deliver an inspirational speech!
3rd qtr (beers 9 & 10): Why haven't we benched (insert name)?! He sucks! Take away his scholarship! Put the freshman in!
4th qtr (beers 11 & 12): FIRE JOEY! FIRE KITTLEY! FIRE DERUYTER! THEY ALL SUCK! THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!
After game: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
2 hours after game (sober): That sucked. We didn't play well. (insert name) made some mistakes, but he's learning and improving. The coaches made good adjustments, but we couldn't execute. We'll get 'em next year. Time to move onto next week. Let's go, Tech!
