RECRUITING: East Texas athlete Colt Sparks commits to TTU: "It just felt like home"

Caught up with the new Texas Tech commit to learn more about his decision. Think y'all will really like some of those quotes about his commitment and his outlook on things.

Got two for UNT to offer

Sec 105. I'll sell at a good price (I paid about $240)., or, if a "benevolent" situation, e.g. single parent with kid, young couple, etc. I'll make a VERY good deal ;) Two caveats: 1) I'm driving from Allen to LBK Thurs; 2) I've listed on SeatGeek (did that prior to discovering this forum, and don't know if someone accepts it's an automatic thing, or if I need to "accept"). FWIW, I am going to the game, just had an invite from a friend to sit elsewhere.

Since there is a PS5 thread already getting started I figured I will start up a thread for Xbox. I am sure several leagues will form but I am willing to commish the full 32 user mega RRS Xbox league.

I know several have posted in the news thread about the game in general their interest. While I havent gone back and looked up those names you can just add yourself to the below linked google sheet to lock yourself in. I think itll be first come first serve. Once/if this fills up others can create leagues if necessary.

I say no limit on which schools people pick. You can be Georgia or you can be Troy for all I care. For simplicity sake I think I will not be performing any conference realignment in year 1 (we can re-assess for year 2 if necessary and the league went well the first season). So if you are alone in the Sun Belt playing no users and only the computer that was your choice (and maybe its the choice you want!). If all 16 Big12 teams are controlled by a user and every game is user v user that was part of your choice as well. Assuming there is the ability to adjust nonconference schedules if two of yall want to change your OOC schedule to play each other I am fine with accommodating that. In fact I would say I encourage it and I will shame all of you who keep FCS opponents on your schedule.

Early release of the game is the 16th. Normal release day is the 19th. I will set up the dynasty on the 19th so everyone is able to join regardless if you bought the deluxe edition or the normal edition.

WEEK ADVANCEMENT UPDATE: We have closed the poll. In order to make sure we get through multiple seasons of the dynasty instead of taking 14 real life weeks to play 14 weeks of the game we have decided to go with a set advancement schedule. The week will be advanced on Mondays at 5 pm and Fridays at Noon. I believe this gives everyone multiple mornings, afternoons, or late nights to play their game. Thats roughly only a 30-45 minute time commitment and should be doable. At this pace a dynasty that starts July 19th would finish the first regular season September 6th. The CFP and offseason recruiting takes a few weeks so probably early October to start season 2. I believe this is a good balance to still give multiple days of time for everyone to get their games in, but also keeps the dynasty moving so this is one where multiple seasons will be played and its worthwhile to pick a lower quality team and recruit your way up.

Sign up sheet

I am going to lock the Google Sheet so there are now no more team changes.

I am going to add to the Google Sheet all of your current schedule information over the course of this morning. I will tell you how many user v user games you currently have as well as what your current out of conference schedules are. Out of conference schedules will be adjustable. As the commish I will have to adjust them all when setting up the league (assuming its like it was in the old game) so I want to know who yall want to play before the game drops so I can quickly set it up day 1. Over the next few weeks take a look at the Google Sheet to see who you play and what you want to change.

I would highly encourage yall make call outs and try and schedule other user v user games. My only rules will be as follows:

  • in order to schedule a user v user nonconference game both users must agree
  • if you want to play a CPU opponent in a certain week you cannot be stealing that game from somebody else. For example if one of you want me to schedule you Nebraska in week 2 I will not do it because Colorado plays Nebraska in week 2 and Colorado is one of our user controlled teams. The Colorado user must agree to it.
If you dont care at all about this aspect of it just dont do anything and I will leave you as is. No worries.

You will be shamed for playing FCS opponents.

DISCORD INVITE

Please join the Discord above. This will be where most communication on scheduling the time to play your user v user games will take place. I will also probably provide weekly updates as the week advances too.

Considered posting this on the main board but assumed it belonged over here because it’s not sports related. This is my first time over here and I’m not looking to argue with anyone.

Who do you think wins tonight’s debate? Will it sway any voters one way or another?

Why Joey said the defense needed to play better (maybe)?

Glad this site got brought up on twitter, i've been using it the last couple of years.

Look at our defensive rankings relative to our offensive. or the new profile charts.

If joey is deep into the analytics they would tell him that the defense is performing worse than the offense on a per play basis outside of turnovers.

Something interesting to me is the starting field position for our offense and defense is the same even with all the "reckless, gambling, wild /s " 4th down decisions. Maybe you just aren't playing good. no matter the situation..............

California state senator forced chief of staff to perform sex acts that left him injured

A California state senator allegedly forced her chief of staff to engage in a "sex-based quid pro quo relationship" that left him with various bodily injuries, according to a lawsuit filed last week.

Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil, who recently switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party, is accused of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation and violations of other state labor laws against her now-former chief of staff, Chad Condit, who filed a civil lawsuit in Sacramento Superior Court on Thursday.

Condit, who is married, claimed that Alvarado-Gil was an "erratic" and "controlling" boss who imposed a "sexually dominating abuse of authority and power" over him.

"This was a sex-based quid pro quo relationship of unwelcome advances and sexual behaviors coupled with punishment and flexing of power," the suit alleges.

During their final encounter, Condit alleges that Alvarado-Gil forced him to perform oral sex in a car seat that left him with three herniated discs in his back and a collapsed hip from having to "twist and contort" his body in the confined space of the car, according to the lawsuit.

Condit claims he then used his injury as an excuse to refuse Alvarado-Gil’s demands for oral sex, which caused Alvarado-Gil to become unhappy and threaten his job. Alvarado-Gil allegedly retaliated and issued him a disciplinary letter accusing him of inappropriate behavior.

Condit was then fired in December after making clear that the senator’s advances were not welcome and undergoing surgery on his hip, according to the suit.

Alvarado-Gil’s attorney, Ognian Gavrilov, told Fox News Digital in a statement that the claims against the senator are false.

"A disgruntled former employee has fabricated an outlandish story, presented without evidence, to get a payday," Gavrilov said. "We expect that the Senator will be fully cleared of any wrongdoing of these bogus, financially motivated claims."

I was told by a TE player from Stepenville the man is Kendil.

He said Kindle was the real off. mind.
Might bring Art in as one of those consult coach.

Now my wise Lubbock older cousin thinks we should form a new league of teams No one
Wants. So name the league.

Well, West Texas AM, New Mexico, New Mex. State. UT El Paso, Colo. St. Airforce,
Texas State, Tarleton North Texas State. Ore St. Wash St. College of Grand Canyon.

So any suggestions other than I should stop posting and work on spelling and typing. Carpal tunnel , Hubcity

I guarantee a Win vs Wash St.

Calling it now.(It might be because I just enjoyed some whiskey while floating in the pool). Tech will settle into its defensive scheme and will beat Washington St 45-30. It is not a talent issue as much as some of you want to believe. Some of these young bucks will actually figure out how to play zone and settle down. I will say that the DL needs to get pressure to force some quick throws, but I think some of these guys will rebound.

In case anyone wants what I'm drinking, its Woodford Reserve. Nothing special, but its helping me enjoy the weekend.

STORY: The Breakdown – Washington State pres. by All Hands Craft Cocktails

I’m sure y’all are unaware, but with my travel schedule this weekend, I had a very hectic Sunday and was really unable to get to this until very late, on very minimal sleep.

However, I wanted to get this to y’all, at least with what I could. I got through the first quarter of the offensive film, and I wanted to talk through some of the things that I’m seeing structurally.

I will finish my charting sometime this evening, and can update my sheet whenever I get done, for those who liked seeing my notes from each play last week. (I like delivering it to y’all that way, so you can kind of draw your own conclusions holistically, if you care to do so. Adds nuance around here).

Let’s jump into it.

Morton Convo

Based off the first quarter of play, the cracks were already showing. Morton was inconsistent with his footwork and the ball placement really failed him a couple of times. Morton missed a checkdown, a nice post-curl route to Douglas and a short hitch route all in the first six minutes.

The cracks are there, and it just got worse throughout the game for me during the live sample. Morton has to be better, especially when possessing a clean pocket, which he had nearly 80% of the time last night, per PFF. The post curl is a great example of this, but it was such a bad miss that I’m not even sure he was on the same page as CD.

If you look at my excel sheet attached below, you have some issues in the RPO choices from Morton, as well. He did not help this team settle into this ball game, but neither did special teams, and neither did the defense. All around brutal.

However, I thought Morton flashed the promise here too. Two plays stood out to me. One being a quick slant to Josh Kelly where he picked up the blitzing LB and threw right into the replacement window, a great rep with a free runner coming into your vision.

Another toss to Kelly, this time on an iteration of an out with clears attached. While it’s almost certainly a pre-snap read, Morton plays with an excellent base and good footwork, and absolutely rips a seed to Kelly.

It’s frustrating, since this could be what he is all the time, but he isn’t. What the actual issue is, I don’t know, but it’s what I see on tape.

Offensive Structure

Obviously, you’re missing Tahj Brooks in this one, and I’m sure it made quite the difference for the play caller. But, I found it interesting that Tech got away from true, run the ball run calls. Of the five run plays, two were “run it” runs, and it put stress on Morton.

I think Tech’s formations didn’t help in this matter either, allowing for WSU to align with numbers in both the run and in the pass game, especially on the final play of the quarter.

This 2x2 Stack formation was a staple for Kittley in ’23, and I’ve always had my questions with it, but if you’re going to “take what the defense gives you,” this formation doesn't provide many answers, especially with this call on.

I’m calling this an iteration of a WR bubble RPO with the run being inside zone, and it ends up being handed off and taken for a solid three-yard gain by Dickey. Most would see this as a nothing burger play, and it ultimately is, but to me it’s getting too cute.

The split into the field is somewhat tight and it allows for WSU to line it up very, very well with numbers on both screen sides but also allow to play the run well.

I’m sure this thread will go well, and I’m sure you wanted to see more of a full game recap. Wished I could do it, but it was a struggle to get this written and broken down. Things I’m looking for in the next three quarters…Morton’s processing, footwork and ball placement on downfield throws and Tech’s pass protection (pretty good to me live). Will flag the update when I’m done.
