Lioness - Season 2

Taylor Sheridan’s Season 2 has hit Paramount - Plus.

We watched the first episode last night - it was pretty dang gripping.

TS wrote it, directed it, AND is playing what appears to be a key player - an old grizzled badass Marine who isn’t afraid to be seen without his shirt on 😀

This show arguably has the best cast of any of these direct streaming projects - two episodes are up currently.

STORY: Perry reflects on Fort Worth disaster pres. by Prosper Energy Management

Interesting convo with coach Perry this morning. Some highlights.

What has led to J'Koby Williams' resurgence over the past two weeks?
"I think he's obviously learned the offense. I think there's a role for somebody like him. Tahj is going to grind it out, he's going to pound, get tough yards, get hit a bunch. J'Koby in space is really tough to stop, and I think Cam Dickey is too. Dickey, unfortunately, when he went in there he didn't get the opportunity to carry the ball. But those two guys are going to be really good players. I've been happy with the way they work, just great kids."

Is J'Koby's production a surprise from where he was in the fall?
"Oh, sure, I think especially with freshmen because most of those guys aren't ready to play. It kind of goes into his willingness to get in the weight room. He's put on some weight, he understands what we're doing offensively. He does a good job for me on special team's too. He's got a bigger role, so the more and more things he can handle, the more stuff we'll give him."

What led to the fake being called? The look & how much have you repped it?
"We have a bunch of stuff we work during the season. It's tough enough that Jack, he had to be able to throw the ball just like he did. Almost perfect, with a blind toss. They also have to give you that look, and they'd shown that look throughout the season. In that part of the game, we needed something, we needed a shot in the arm. Fortunately it worked because with special teams when you call something, it's got to work, because when it backfires on, it gives you the other team the same thing, their momentum."

What does Iowa State's special team's look like?

"Their punt returner is really good. The receiver number 13. Their kickoff team, they put a big bunch of big old bruisers, and they try to run right through your face. Punters been there for a while. He did some stuff, but, you know, like, so they're typical Iowa State. They're not going to beat themselves. They're a well coached team, playing complimentary football across the board. You know, defense giving up very few yards and points, and they're tackling. Their offense is taking advantage of field position, and that's how they're playing. We've got to take advantage of the chances that we have and we've got to make some stuff happen."

What're you seeing Iowa State in general?
"Great team. I mean, I can see why they're a top 10 team. They're physical, they play, I'm gonna keep saying it and it's like a broken record but they play physical football like you've got to play to win. That's where we've got to get to, we've got to be able to play physical, and I think we've made step this year, I really do. I think we've made strides in becoming a lot more physical football team to be able to win in situations like when you're playing a team like this, because they're just going to try to big boy you."

Sideline Interaction

When we sent the Field Goal team out to go up 13, I heard Joey yell at someone on the sideline from the 2nd deck. It was Harrison Hanna, Harrison has the analytics book on the sideline. To me that tells me the book told us to go for it and he was trying to relay that to Joey. You can argue that decision either way, if we had won nobody would be saying it was a poor decision to kick it. But it does feel like we are straying away from our agressive approach which I don’t like. To me we are not good enough to put teams away in traditional methods right now.

Macho

Was targeted 9 times, caught on 6 times for 169 yards. 92 yards YAC.

I thought this during the game. I thought it would be 200 yards though. If he sees the field again I have zero faith in this staff. He’s been on the edge of a performance like this since Az St when he looked like he’s partner jogging with the receiver the whole time.

Tiffany Gomas article in DMN this morning- Lakewood lady who made outburst on Airplane

Article on her in DMN this morning about the outburst.. Looked up house at 3923 Frontier Dallas, Tx. Zillow show it to be 1779 Sq. feet and Appraisal District shows 5100. Assume she expanded it. Trust in her name purchase in 2022. She is attractive but even if I was a younger single man I would be skeptical of dating her. She sounds like a head case. Our house in also in Revocable Trust. Normally if you set those up you generally have some money because we did it for estate purposes so we dont have to go through probate. People who do those are usually older than her. It does cost quite a bit of money to have them done. We paid about 4k in 2012 to have one done.

I think we win Saturday

Not making a bet on it, not guaranteeing it. It just feels like we are due for a big game win. I am ready for the ridicule, and probably can't argue with your rationale for my stupidity. Maybe it's the wounded animal effect? Maybe it's the NCAA twilight zone of upsets effect?

Anyone else seeing visions or having prophetic dreams for Iower St.?

@B. Golan and I were discussing starting a dynasty NBA fantasy league. Wanted to gauge interest to see if we could build out a league. Would do no money for year one and if we can get the dynasty continuing into a second year discuss that then. Would anyone have interest?

How empty was TCU stadium Saturday. I watched on TV

The lower deck on the TCU side which they showed the most was full. But on the visitors side the upper deck looked mostly empty or big sections of it were. End Zones looked full. There were empties on on the visitor side lower deck. Tickets Saturday morning were down to $54 on stub hub. Paid attendance was 42k but that is about how many season tickets TCU sell. I thought the crowd was disappointing as many on this board were sure it would be a sellout. Just cannot figure out TCU's strategy of making it hard for Tech people to buy TCU tickets.

Colin Farrell Finishes Dublin Marathon While Pushing Friend in Wheelchair: 'She Epitomizes Bravery'

Pretty good feel good story. I know we have some marathoners on here and as a retired marathoner, a little over 4 hours at age 48 while pushing his friend the last 2.5 miles is damn impressive.

TCU Tailgate!

Double Eagle and Matador Club will be hosting a tailgate on Saturday, starting at about 10:30 or 11:00 am. Chimy's will be catering, and we will have plenty of food, margs, and beer.
We will be in the "Founders' Lot", which is the lot at the top of the hill on the southwest side of Amon Carter Stadium (just west of the TCU football practice fields). You can access the Founders' Lot from Bellaire Drive North.

Please stop by, join the Matador Club (if you haven't already), and have a beer with us.

Let's get fired back up, have some fun, and beat the Frogs!!

You can RSVP here through the Matador Club website.

RRS Business Owners

Business owners, tell me everything. What type of business you own, how you got started, what inspired you to go out on your own, what you would have done differently. Give it to me. I need some inspiration.

I am working towards going out on my own in some form or fassion, but staffing in my industry is a big issue here in Lubbock. That issue is a tough one to overcome, but not impossible.

I currently run a fire protection business and have been with the company for about 10 years but I'm sick of making millions for the company while I am financially "treading water".

So give me your stories. Inspire me you insufferable little shits!

***My pay isn't the main issue here, the biggest issue for me is I feel like I work my ass of to build something for a corporation, I would much rather spend that time building something for my family.

Joey Needs to Start Feeling Heat

For the decisions he making, decisions he’s allowing the OC to make and seeming incompetent to fix defensive issues. You can tell he is versed in excuses in postgame talks.

Reporters, @codycc64 snd others media who have access to him need to increase the heat and start making him answer tough questions and not being able to deflect.

Joey seems very stubborn, reluctant to play the best players regardless of age. Hammond from Morton looked night and day. A top 10 recruit that is physically more gifted than others not getting playing time due to age, DE Smith not getting in on defense when we struggle to get pressure, and so on.

It’s like he’s immune to criticism from the top because they WANT him to work out.
