Just got done with Beard’s press conference, wanted to get a quick post up before my drive home.

... Beard, Holyfield and Clarke all agreed that this loss had more to do with Tech and their self inflicted wounds than it did with TCU. Beard gave credit to the Frogs of course but knows that the Red Raiders didn’t play well at all.

... Beard did say that TCU was by far the tougher team tonight and that it wasn’t even close. They wanted it more and that’s evident by the offensive rebounding, defense and 2nd chance points.

... Beard said Desmond Bane was the best player on the floor and the rest of the TCU roster followed his lead. He said when your seniors, your best players don’t play well you cannot win, but when they do you have a shot. He credited Bane and said neither of Tech’s seniors was good enough tonight.

... I asked Beard about rebounding and how that’s become a big issue in all 3 Big 12 losses. Coach said in BCS basketball there’s a relationship between rebounding and winning and that they weren’t good enough tonight. They stress rebounding as a program and will keep working at it until the players understand how important it is.

... Personally I thought Tech wasn’t in sync on either end of the court. On offense too many aimless passes and turnovers. Not driving. Not getting to the line.

On defense Tech guarded Desmond Bane like he was any average guard and you cannot do that. Where were the traps, the help? Coming out of halftime with a 4 point lead, how does he get a wide open 3 to start the half?

... I thought Ramsey tried to do too much offensively instead of letting the game come to him. Nobody else wanted to shoot it though so I guess I can’t blame him too much.

... This was Chris Clarke’s worst game as a Red Raider. Scoring isn’t his game at all but for him to have only 1 field goal attempt shows how not into the game he was.

... I liked Beard’s move to go to Nadolny even though it didn’t work out and it was only for a couple possessions. He played well vs Kansas State and I’d like to see more of him, he plays with effort.

... My prediction of a 2-0 hoops week in the 3-2-1 is already wrong. Gonna need a huge bounce back win against Kentucky to offset this loss.
