Tailgating lowdown - Houston edition

Hitting town for my son’s official campus tour this weekend and excited! looking for advice on tailgate spots to hit. Anyone doing anything of note? is there a tailgate concert this weekend? Where should we try to hit? I‘m bringing my parents too, maybe my Stepdad’s last time to get out to Lubbock where he taught poli-sci for years.

Thanks in advance, love to meet some of you fine folk!

CNN: OMG CLIMATE CHANGE WILL BE BACK NEXT SUMMER OMG

I'm guessing these Einsteins now think the concept of winter, spring, summer, and fall is a conspiracy theory spread by "ultra-MAGA" extremists.

In their eyes Climate Change apparently isn't a phenomenon affecting the earth's overall climate, but it's now only when we have record high temperatures they can exploit.

It’s my birthday today, and here is my list of wishes/demands from the Universe…

1. I want Bama to break UT like Bane breaks Batman. 49-3 final score would work for me.

2. I want ASU to beat Okie Lite by double digits. I don’t think this will happen at all, but I really wish it would. (Side Note: just realized there are essentially 3 future conference matchups this weekend with us vs UH, BYU vs RU, and ASU vs OSU)

3. I want Kittley to serve up another 50 Burger.

4. I want USC to outperform OU this season. Not that I respect what Riley did, but I think it’s hilarious to watch OU mentally spiral like they did, and it would be great if they have to do it all year long.

5. I want Chris Beard to find hair in his food every time he goes out to eat. Beard hair, head hair, pubes…doesn’t matter, they all work.

6. I want to see Dana have a drunken night on Saturday, but the real bad kind that stems from a blowout loss.

I am sure there are more I will think of later, but tell me what you are wishing for this weekend/season!

The REAL reason ut is soft

So, local sports in Austin is brutal because all they have to talk about is ut women's soccer and the astros, but I sit through it every night because I don't want to miss Colbert. Usually it's just background noise while I play candy crush or something, but my ears have perked up multiple times this week. Everyone interviewed, from Sark down, has taken the line that they're only focused on playing in the conference title game in Arlington and all they care about this week is seeing how they handle adversity. This game has no impact on their season goal, has been the refrain.

Not a one of them has talked like they even have a puncher's chance in this game, they've all completely given up and accepted their fate. I know if we played Bama they'd kill us, but Joey and company would have our team so fired up they'd be chewing through iron to get at them! I don't understand their resignation, other than they're all just soft and don't want to look embarrassed when the inevitable happens.

I'm about ready to sacrifice some kittens to ensure we beat those chodes. Choads? However you spell it, eff 'em!

Lubbock hotels

Need advice on some places to stay. Wife and I thinking about coming up for the WVU game. Haven’t been back to the 806 since like 2014. We used to try and stay at the Overton if it was available, but I know there are a few other good options now. Also, sorry to post a thread like this…I feel like I see it once a month and can’t remember the names of the new places.

HOOPS: Tech OV confirms decision for guard commit Jason Jackson

Jackson was in between pick up games when he answered so most of his replies were pretty short, but I appreciated him taking the time to answer a few questions.

More of his OV pictures can be seen on his Instagram. Scroll through on the link below.

Texas Tech PAC Fundraiser in Dallas - 9/20

Fellow Red Raiders,
I am on the Host Committee for a fundraiser for the Texas Tech PAC on September 20th at 12 p.m. at the Dallas Petroleum Club (details and registration link below). We have Coach Mark Adams as the keynote speaker and will also have Chancellor Mitchell, AD Hocutt, and President Schovanec. This is going to be a great event to interact with Tech’s academics and athletics leadership. I would love to see each of you there.

As you may know, the 2023 Legislative Session is slated to be a huge one for Texas Tech. Between next year’s Tech Centennial, UT’s departure from the Big 12, and the renewed discussion regarding whether the state should be heavily funding just two universities through the PUF to the exclusion of other superior schools in West Texas, there are a lot of action items for Tech before the Legislature this session. To make sure our message gets heard, our PAC is investing heavily in several races this cycle.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the event (registration link below). Donations start at $500. If you are unable to attend, I would still encourage you to make a donation (link below).
