Lubbock weather forecast - Baylor

update Friday afternoon
No change from earlier update. Still chance for rain at some point Saturday, but if it does rain, it won't be continuous.

Latest computer guidance shows higher rain chance before the game Saturday and again late Saturday night into Sunday. But that's just what the computers have, I still wouldn't rule out some rain during the game. Also can't rule out lightning, but that is a lower probability than just rain.

Forecast is much different just 100 miles farther west. Along the state line rain and thunderstorms are likely.

update Wednesday afternoon
Rain chance is now higher Sunday. There still is a chance for a shower at some point during Saturday, but it doesn't look like rain all day. If it does rain, shouldn't be heavy. Rain chance Saturday is 30%.

It'll be cloudy and cool, plan for those leg prisons. High that afternoon during the first half around 67. It'll also be breezy, SE wind 15-25mph, some gusts over 30.

The upper-level storm system bringing the rain will cut off over the Four Corners. And when a storm system does that, it gets tricky on timing, removed from the main flow of everything. But computers now show it stalling through Saturday and not kicking east until Sunday, which is why rain looks more favorable here Sunday...with the high rain chance Saturday over NE New Mexico.

posted Monday morning
It'll be cooler with a pretty good chance for rain to fall at some point during the day Saturday, high in the upper 60s.

This far out, it's tough to be specific to just game time. It's a fairly strong upper-level storm system moving in from the west, so confidence is there that we'll get some rain at some point late Friday into Saturday. It'll be cool enough that it could just be rain, but system may be strong enough for some lightning...less certain about that at this point.

I'll provide more specifics as we get closer.

Headed up to Lubbock for the BU game with friends and family this weekend. We'll be posted up at Two Doc's Friday evening from about 6:30-8:30 buying beers and handing out bottles of whiskey for RRS Barrel Club members.

There's also an opportunity for Brandon Carter to come by and hang, but I don't want to waste his time if the interest isn't there. So, current and potential RRS Barrel Club members, answer the poll, comment below and let me know if you're planning to stop by and if you'd be interested in meeting Brandon Carter and getting your bottle signed or not.

If you're not an RRSBC member you can still come by and hang with us, but unfortunately I won't be buying your beer.

As usual, if you haven't signed up and donated you might as well. $115 to become a member, get a bottle of barrel proof whiskey, a beer at Two Doc's and maybe ask BC a question or Two about his time at Tech. Not a bad deal considering we're donating everything to The Matador Club.

Membership Form

Venmo

Fill out the form then donate $115 per membership. One bottle and one beer per membership. Make note of how many memberships you're donating for just for data entry purposes.

📰 No.19 Texas Tech Brings the Fight to Morgantown in 1-0 Win over West Virginia

John Denver went to Texas Tech and No. 19 Texas Tech Soccer went to the country roads of Morgantown, West Virginia on a cold, damp night to earn a crucial, gritty 1-0 win. Some hoops content for yall this morning from a conversation the media had with Overton Thursday.

The season is fast approaching…

Baylor Assistant Football Coaches

Have done this with Arizona State and Arizona... Figured there would be plenty of interesting names on the Baylor staff to look for.

Offensive Coordinator-- Jake Spavital. Brother of former Tech assistant coach Zach Spavital. Jake is the former Texas State head coach and has coordinated offenses at Cal, Texas A&M and West Virginia.

Defensive Coordinator-- Matt Powledge. Matt no longer calls the defense as Aranda does. But Matt was brought to Baylor from Oregon where he was a Co-Defensive Coordinator.

Cornerbacks Coach-- Kevin Curtis. Lubbock great. Texas Tech great and former Texas Tech assistant coach.

Offensive Line Coach-- Mason Miller. Mason is a former leach assistant coach serving with him both at Washington State and Mississippi State. He was the head football coach at DIII McMurry in Abilene and served last year as the offensive coordinator at Tarleton when we played them.

Director of Player Personnel-- Aaron Hunt. Another former Texas Tech standout football player.

2024 Transfers

Just thought it would be interesting to see how last years transfers have settled into their new schools:

Jerand Bradley, Boston College: 2 receptions 42 yards 1 TD

Loic Fouonji, Vanderbilt: 2 receptions 28 yards 0 TD

Steve Linton, Baylor: 5 solo tackles 0 sacks

Tyler Shough, Louisville: 581 passing yards 6 TD 0 INTs 83.6 QBR

Myles Price, Indiana: 11 receptions 106 yards 0 TD

Jesiah Pierre, UCF: 3 solo tackles 0 sacks

Jayden York, Houston: 2 receptions 11 yards 0 TD

Can confidently say there’s not a single person on this list that I really wish we had back, and that’s a really good feeling (yes I know it has only been 3 games)

Formula 1 or Formula 500O

My favorite F 1 Was after WW 2 up to about 1975. Lots of action.

Have you guys heard of Formula 5000,
It was all in USA and lots of driver for 30 years.

It was either 5 Liter Chevy or Ford as I recall.

Several international driver took part, Andretti and Brian Redman, etc.

Brian had contract for other racing in England and Europe but won most of the races of anyone.

Mario said Brian was the fastest. Brian Only went fast enough to win, not to show off.

He was factory driver with others for Porsche and won World Chap for Ferrari sports cars with Mario and won 2 world champ for BMW.
