Longhorn game watching with a Horn - bittersweet

Dad is a Horn grad (business school and law school), and is unfortunately in severe decline with Alzheimer’s, and has been suffering mini-strokes lately. We’re at a rehab hospital watching in his room.

Really sad but tragi-comic funny to watch the game with him. Three times since the game started, he’s asked “Who are we playing? Where are they playing?”

He’ll nod off, but perked up when they scored their first touchdown.

But appreciate being able to share this time with him. He used to come to almost all the Tech-Ut games, including 2008, and he still gives me crap about us costing them a national championship.
Anyway, for a few hours I’m a Longhorn fan just to see the look on his face if they win.

F-150 King Ranch vs STX

I need a new truck since my Chevy Silverado RST is a piece of junk. I've had the engine out once at 8k miles and now it is machine the same noise again and is out of warranty. I don't trust it and I don't like it much either. I never loved the truck from day one.

Before this truck I owned a Ram Longhorn with all of the luxury items and put 180k on it. I loved that truck more than any other vehicle I have owned.

I am currently looking at a used 2023 F-150 King Ranch for 47k and a new STX for 40k. I can't justify paying 70k for a new King Ranch even though I can afford it, I still have a poor kid that lives in my heart. The luxury of the King Rach seems excellent. The new STX is a solid, reasonable purchase but I fear that I won't be happy with a cheapo.

Any thoughts from the board on this? I should probably buy the used King Ranch and be happy. Does anyone have any insight on this particular model being a piece of junk?

Since this is the internet, folks will ignore this part even though I will write it:

I have a commercial line of credit with Ford, I love my commercial dealer, and I am only looking at Ford at this time.

PSA: FOX Sports App

FOX will be broadcasting a set of baseball games, including the lowly White Sox, beginning at 6:15 tonight ahead of our 9 kick. There’s a probability the White Sox will give up a lot of runs and the game will go over.

You can get around this by downloading the FOX Sports App and entering in your cable login. Not only will this get you to our game in time, my experience has been it’s higher definition than what’s on bundled streaming services like YouTubeTV.

Check it out during the Michigan-TEX game.

RRS TV: I chatted with Greg Woods of The Spokesman-Review to preview Washington State

Definitely learned some more about the Wazzu team today, what they've rebounded from in the offseason and what to expect Saturday night.

Very, very odd to me how similar these two teams are in both the shared connections and the complexions of both teams, replacing key fixtures on the defense and looking to elevate what were once dragging parts of the offense. Hope you all enjoy this week's preview!

Texas Tech advertising at Arrowhead

I was at Arrowhead last night for the game. I was fortunate enough to be in a suite. It is so impressive to see how much Tech is advertising at Arrowhead. The scoreboard has the Tech logo, the ribbon was flashing Texas Tech with the phrase "where champions are made" and the TV's within the suite had Tech advertising. I would say every 4-5 minutes you would see Tech advertising for about 15-30 seconds.

Texas High School Football Streaming Guide

The Texas high school football season kicks off Thursday. Most schools leverage the subscription-based NFHS network or Texan Live, but a growing number of schools are showing their regular season games on YouTube, Facebook Live and the district sites.

Each week, I'll pick out some freely available games and televised games between competitive teams. My knowledge mostly surrounds West Texas, DFW and East Texas, but feel free to add other games as long as they're easily accessible.

I expect Week 1 will be a little wonky between these schools not following past precedents and technical difficulties, but these are some competitive games I expect will be available:

Thursday, August 29 (Games at 7 pm)

Highland Park vs. Rockwall-Heath, CW33 (DFW only) OR Highland Park YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/live/hd-mzJaQSww?si=oCTgsGRdXwmcrMir

Prosper vs. Westlake, KBVO (Austin only)

Lubbock Estacado vs. Jim Ned, Fox News Now (Lubbock Only)
