Laugh @ Horns

Redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers successfully negotiated his first start at Texas.
Game day parking on campus was a different story, as Ewers related in a tweet after leading a 52-10 win over Louisiana-Monroe.
“How’d I get towed during the game,” Ewers tweeted at 11:56 p.m. Saturday.

Ewers isn’t the first recipient of Texas campus parking enforcement. Horns247 reported that receiver Agiye Hall’s arrest for criminal mischief – which led to a team suspension – involved trying to remove a parking boot from his vehicle.
Transfer linebacker Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey empathized with his teammate, complete with laughing/crying emojis.
“they terrible,” Tucker-Dorsey tweeted.

McGuire

A lot will be said about him as the games get tougher but he had a great debut. Happy for him to get that first win. Amazing where he’s at after being a high school coach not long ago. A few observations:

1. I hope he never changes when it comes to how open he is. There is no coach speak about him and I love it. I’m not talking about injuries, I’m guessing he may be eventually more guarded with that information. I’m surprised about how forthcoming he is even with that.

2. I give some of the blame to ESPNs coverage and I may have missed something, but he didn’t appear too involved on the sideline. He wasn’t interacting with players and his mouthpiece on his headphones was up a lot. Makes me wonder if his style is more observe and let other people do their jobs.

3. Just a personal preference, but the sleeveless pullover needs to die in a fire. I always hated when Rhule worse that and now he’s following in his footsteps.

Glad to have the season started!

Coordinators

I have been following Tech football for 50 years. I think we are going to really enjoy what these guys bring.

Kittley is very creative like Kliff, but he seems more comfortable running the ball and using TEs. I know it Is only game against an easier opponent, but the early returns are very promising.

DeRuyter, what an amazing hire. At this time last year Oregon beat Ohio State and yesterday they got stomped into a mud puddle by Georgia. You know damn well those folks wish they still had him. His scheme is multiple and I think he is going to be terrific.

THIS COULD BE REALLY FUN!

Instant improvement

Just a reminder over the past 2 seasons we should’ve lost to both SFA and Houston Baptist at home. Somehow Wells managed to not lose those games.

Last night was definitely far from perfect particularly in regards to DB play, which I think Joey would easily agree to, but you can already see the difference in our culture, players and the team. That’s the most energy I’ve seen in a Texas Tech football team in a long time…and it was for Murray State.

Losing Shough really sucks for us, but I feel the worst for him. I think he was a legit late round pick and depending on the injury is more than done for the season. I doubt an NFL team takes a flyer on an injury prone guy.

However, I think Smith and Morton will prove to be young but get to show how talented they are. Having Kittley at the helm offensively makes me breathe way easier losing QB1 15 minutes into the season. Really excited to see what this team does this year and moving forward.

Dana is about to be embarrassed next Saturday.
