OT: Prayers.

Today, 14 years ago to this exact date, I got to see my Christmas present from my grandma for the first time at home after I picked her out Thanksgiving 2008. A beautiful tri-color beagle, I named Abigail Sue. My grandma bought her for me as a present since I lived by myself at the time my first year at Texas Tech. Fast forwards to today, and I had to say goodbye to her. My wife, sister, and brother-in-law got to be present as we took her in. Due to some issues back in 2016, she came to live with my sister in KC and has resided with her since, stepping up to love her just as much as I did. Back in September of this year, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that impeded her airway. Thanks to Kansas State Vet program, my sweet Abby got to live a few more months. This year has been so hard on my family. January 10th of this year, my Dad succumbed to his cancer. In September, my mom called to tell us my Dad’s German Shepard died at 7 years old, also of cancer. Both dogs were my Dad’s two favorite dogs in our family.

Just asking for prayers for my family, as this has just been a heartbreaking year. Hug your animals tight, give them an extra treat, and love them forever. I’m still in utter shock that today was the last day I got to see the best Christmas present I ever received.

UPDATE: How to watch Jackson State-Texas Tech

Haven't seen a standalone thread about this so thought I would post one for those wanting to watch:

From Texas Tech Athletics:

The stream will be through HBCUGo.tv and will feature an all-female broadcast team of Lawrencia Moten (play-by-play), Courtney Tate (analyst) and Ashley Holder (sideline reporter). Media and fans can find out where to watch and how to download the FREE app at https://hbcugo.tv/how-to-watch

So you'll sign-up through the app and should be good to go.

Mike Leach’s overall health

I don’t mean to ruffle anything here, but I’m both intrigued and worried about how many people have said that Mike looked sick all year (or for a while). I’m not a medical guru, but was his degrading health a sign an upcoming heart failure? Is that what congestive heart failure ultimately previews? I guess I’m curious as to whether action could have been taken here or something could have gone differently.

The Railway Man

IMHO, a great watch of an under appreciated 2013 film starring Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, and Skellen Skarsgård.

The movie is based on the true life story of a British soldier who is captured by the Japanese and placed in a concentration camp in Burma in WW2. After being discovered with a radio receiver several soldiers built in the camp, he tells the Japanese he is solely responsible. This leads to months of the most brutal torture at the hands of the secret Japanese police.

Years later he discovers a certain someone is still alive

What’s makes this all more compelling is that it’s all based on a true story

It’s now available on Netflix.
