Round Rock/Austin Food Recs

Going to be on the 40 acres next Friday/Saturday to take in UT and Arkansas exhibition basketball game at Moody Center. Going to be in Round Rock Friday for work and needing a dinner rec.

We will eat lunch in austin near the school on Saturday, so looking for something good near by or I guess we will have time to eat just about anywhere for lunch.

I know a lot of RR/Austin residents are on here so I’m hoping for a plethora of option to choose from.

I’ve got my neighbor making me a Country Club Christopher tshirt with her cricut machine, to wear to game.

Thanks

Proud Parent Moment

My son is in the third grade, and his elementary has an annual fun run where kids can run a half mile or a full mile. Yesterday they held it at the track and he wanted to do the full mile. He told me a while ago he wanted to run it and that he wanted to beat the third grade record which was set last year at 6:54. I've been taking him on runs and he is good at doing 3 miles at around 27 minutes, but I told him he has to adjust his pace for this race.

When they started running yesterday on the first lap a couple of kids were well in front of him and I thought he was in over his head, but I had already emphasized that win or lose he should have fun. When they came by on the second lap he was ahead by 50+ meters. On third lap he was 100+, and on the 4th he lapped a couple of kids. He won by a large margin and set the new record at 6:48. When he crossed the finish line the parents and coaches said he looked like he could have easily kept going, not winded. Really proud of him setting this goal, practicing, and getting the record. Ignore his lack of emotion, it's a family trait.

Mahomes printing money

The dude definitely won’t be one of those guys broke after his career. Everytime I turn around he’s investing in another venture.

2012 vs. 2022 defense

Art Kaufman did some good things here in his one year, and many wanted him to stay on under Kliff (which in hindsight would have changed his tenure dramatically, I'm betting).

In 2012 we finished 38th in Total D. So far in 2022 we're 46th, so in the same neighborhood.

What say you? It's been 10 years since we last had a decent defense, which one are you picking as the better one?

For my money give me 2022. I think the 2012 D was more about feasting early in the year on lessor competition and we kind of faded as the year went on and even got blown out in a few games. Other than the TCU game I don't really recall the defense being a factor in keeping us "in" a game. Not the case this year where the defense has been more relied upon while the offense had struggled. Our losses have all been relatively close and that's with the O often putting the D in bad positions. I don't see us getting straight up blown out even if we do drop another game.

Tonight, my wife of 24 years asked how to browse for something without leaving the evidence in the browsing history. There’s no way she’s that naive. I had to act like I didn’t know, or else risk spelling out how all married men look at porn.

So, was she setting me up?
