📰 Texas Tech Beats LSU 2-1 to Move to Round Two of NCAA Tournament Versus #1 Duke

In front of almost 1,800 rowdy Red Raiders, Texas Tech stormed to a 2-0 first half lead off goals from sophomores Taylor Zdrojewski and Skylar Haase to take down the LSU Tigers 2-1 in their second consecutive season hosting a NCAA Round 1 game in Lubbock. Next up the team will travel to Durham, N.C. to take on the number one overall seed Duke on Friday at 5:30 pm CT.

Self Proclaimed “Official” Basketball Ticket Selling Thread

I didn’t see anything started for basketball specifically.

I can delete if we are going to continue using the same thread as we did football tickets.

I do know of two West Lot parking passes that are available for the whole men’s basketball season if anyone needed them.

Edit: Parking passes have both sold

The Athletic: Tech basketball ranked No. 12

C.J. Moore of The Athletic is one of their national college basketball reporters. His Top 25 comes out every Monday. He has Tech at No. 12 with his reasoning:

No. 12 Texas Tech

Texas Tech is the team the computers and humans are farthest apart on. Texas Tech ranks No. 9 at KenPom, No. 10 at Evan Miya and No. 12 at Bart Torvik. The Red Raiders have yet to appear in the AP Top 25, despite my best efforts. I was one of 18 voters to rank Texas Tech last week and slotted them the highest, at No. 11.

In defense of the other voters, the Red Raiders have played a weak schedule thus far, but they’re crushing those teams. At KenPom, the predicted winning margins for the three games has been 77; the actual margin has been 101. Texas Tech was missing its two top point guards (Elijah Hawkins and Christian Anderson) in the first two games. Both came off the bench last week against Wyoming in a 96-49 win, which KenPom predicted would be a 21-point win.

It’s possible that Texas Tech is this year’s Iowa State, a team beating up on lesser competition early, which could be a sign it’s about to be way better in the Big 12 than expected and the computers are the first to catch on. (Cincinnati is another candidate.) The one difference was that Iowa State had a dominant defense, while Texas Tech is elite offensively. The Red Raiders lead the country in effective field goal percentage (66.3) and are shooting 47.8 percent from deep.

Trump Agenda Prior to Transfer of Power: Series 1 of 3

Planning on this being a 3 part series. 1) The pre-take over, 2) the first 100 days and 3) the balance of his 4 years in office. This may certainly morph into something more should events pop up but for now this is the plan.

So let's hear it out this the Pre-Take Over Segment.

Mine would be to make sure the transition is as seamless as possible. Develop your cabinet early and have a full game plan going into day 1. Conduct as many interviews as you can and now that you have won change your tune to more unity than divide.

Tyreek Smith

FWIW, Tyreek and a bunch of Oklahoma State coaches/fans/accounts have started following each other, including Boynton. May not mean much, but I’d venture that there’s a decent chance he ends up there. It’s not ideal to lose 2 players to in-conference rivals and another to UH, but that’s the new world of college basketball unfortunately.

Texas Tech…and the NY Jets are running a fake offense?

I remember @W. McKay first a month or more ago and several others since saying Tech & Kittley just running a collection of plays.

This video really made that point in regards to the Jets. Because they don’t have a scheme, they are dependent on one and one plays and Rodgers making higher difficulty throws. Not to include making it easier on the defense and their coordinator to respond.

Plays are much easier on the offense when the defense has to pause for even a second due to motion or RPO. Also, you scheme to get players into open space so the QB has an easier time.

Maybe it’s easier when Kelly or Brooks can out-athlete someone, but when the talent is closer, God forbid better, it’s tough sledding.

Rodgers was much better when he wasn’t trying to audible all the time into individual matchups. Didn’t hurt when he had practiced with the same WRs for years either. Also, it’s tougher for the offense to practice when plays are changing a lot.

Rodgers will throw one on way fade balls to the sideline in a “favorable” matchup rather than the easier throw (sound familiar…Eakin).

Morton obviously isn’t audibling at a pro level, but I wonder how often he does and how successful we are.

Lastly, the lack of good blocking by the TEs and WRs along with a mid OL also limits the Jets…and Tech.

Maybe you can get by with Madden one on one in college if you have 4-5 stars (until you run into another team a few times a year…Texas), but Tech of course doesn’t. You also don’t need perfect personnel if your scheme is effective. Really shows why we hit a ceiling and can’t pull away in games.

The problem with the Jets is the QB. Ours, well, the QB due to the OC.

D1 Baseball Impact Transfer Hitters

I usually like the D1 Baseball content a lot, but some of the lists they put out are just bad. No one will ever convince me that someone with a 7:1 K:BB ratio last season in conference is a top 5 transfer hitter. I also love Gage Harrelson, but theres not a chance he belongs in the top 50 over any of the 3 transfers we got this season from a hitting perspective.

OT: Yellowstone Season 5.B

What did everyone think of the premiere of the continuation of the final season? TBH I lost pretty much all interest in the show after Costner effed it up but my wife told me it was back on and wanted to finish it just to see what they do. I think they should have just re-cast him and moved on. Now it all just seems forced into a corner they were backed into. My favorite parts of the show now are when they just spend time with Rip and the the daily life of the Cowboys. Don't really care about Beth or the silly story they have going on. I bet like most who have lived in WTX/Panhandle last night was a little maddening. The Cowboys rolling in to Dalhart and then they're at the 6666's? LOL and then Rip leaves the ranch to go run some errands in ....Pampa? LOL I guess the Pampa thing was to specifically highlight Mr. Klapper. Hell or Highwater had a lot of the same geographic magic travel.
