- Gingery wasn't himself tonight. Call it rust. Call it a different night to start instead of Saturday. Call it whatever you want. He just left several pitches elevated that got hit tonight.
- Personally love the approach by Tadlock to toss Steven game one this weekend. With Davis Martin scheduled to throw the wednesday game to open the Big 12 tournament, you keep Gingery on a 7 day schedule to start the Thursday game in OK.
- Kilian threw the ball phenomenally tonight, I know that his numbers don't agree with that statement, but he had several balls find gaps that really weren't hit well in any way.
- Tanner Gardner is locked in. Yes his homer to right field was hammered, and it was hit in a pretty big situation to give TTU the lead. But I thought his approach on the opposite field homer and his double down the LF line speak volumes. Kid can hit. No other way to say it.
- Can I praise Brian Klein a little more? Take a 12 pitch at bat. Fight off several good pitches on the outside part of the plate. Single down the LF line to start an inning. It was big because KU had just answered, and had actually taken the lead. There's just not any breathing room 1-9 for TTU.
- I think that Jacob Patterson needed a break. Tonight was the sharpest performance I have seen from him outside of Saturday afternoon in Austin. Personally I've taken his consistency for granted, and maybe the staff has as well.
- That is not a shot at Tadlock and Co. in any way. But when the bullpen struggled for those few weekends, we really leaned on Patterson being consistent. I think he may have been overused after Davis Martin went down. Tonight, his fastball was 89-91mph. His offspeed flat out fooled KU hitters. Fun to watch a lineup not have a clue against his deceptive delivery.
- Cody Farhat can F****** play some CF! (Should I try to eloquently describe it. #nah)
- KU used their bullpen tonight. When they took a 6-4 lead Coach Price bet hard on his studs. Leban and Weiman are talented arms. The depth of the TTU lineup is just tough to keep under wraps.
Let's get the broom sticks active over the next few games. Shetter+Lanning with McMillon, Quezada, Mushinski is the formula to sweep a series. KU went all in on a game one win and came up short.
