I've been hanging in Downtown Houston with different CBB insiders and coaches over the last week. Unanimous, across the board - they were GLOWING about the McCasland hire:
- Slow, methodical play. Not a ton of fun to watch. Low-scoring, bullish defense.
- But he's got it mastered. Wins everywhere he goes.
- "Does it the right way." - From booster interaction to recruiting to mentoring the kids. Solid rep.
- Genuinely loved by the basketball world. Literally, one guy I'm talking to would turn to his group and say, "Hey, boys! He's a Red Raider and wanted to know about McCasland!" And I'd instantly have a several more around me, gushing about GM for 10 min. That's how it's gone all weekend.
