Talked with Coach Quick over the weekend, and would like to point out the last question and his answer.
Notice how he mentions that Coach Wells talked with him over the phone when Polk committed, which tells me that Wells and his staff do this almost as a process...getting the commitment's high school coach on the phone before/after a commitment.
In the TXHSFB world, I have posted about 'straight line recruiting' as a new initiative from the HS coaches' association...basically a call to college coaches to recruit the prospects through the head coach or assistant coaches at their high school, versus talking with a recruiting handler or trainer or the like.
Yes, a small thing, but something that I'm sure went a long way with these high school coaches.
