Back at it after a win that the metrics were a fan of over the weekend. Tech is headed to Cincinnati for some chili on noodles and another quality opponent in the Big 12. Jump into some numbers to give you some context ahead of Tuesday's game.

Texas Tech: KenPom 12, Offense 10, Defense 35.

-Tech got a lot of credit defensively for the effort against Arizona. Tech took around a 20 point jump in defensive efficiency with the win over Arizona.

-Tech’s now at the top of the eFG% board in the Big 12. Arizona took a massive dive and are no longer near the top of that list after Saturday.

-Tech is 12th in 3p% and 41st in 2p% on the offensive side of the ball while Tech has defended inside the arc relatively well. Tech’s 34th nationally in 2p% against and 24th in FT% against this season.

Cincinnati: KenPom 40, Offense 132, Defense 7.

Proj. Margin: Texas Tech 66-65

-Cincinnati, as it shows, are a bit of a slog offensively but elite defensively. UC defends the three-point line as well as anyone, allowing a 26.9% clip from beyond the arc this season, the second best in the country. Inside the arc, UC is the 14th best defensively in the nation.

-The tempo for Cincy is slow, but largely due to their defensive efforts. Cincy allows really long possessions on average with the 333rd shortest possession length at 18.4 seconds.

-On offense, Cincy is good on the offensive boards at 36th in the nation while being pretty solid at taking care of the basketball at 51st nationally in turnover rate.

-This team has a ton of length and a ton of familiar names from the game last season. Jizzle James (6-3), Dan Skillings (6-6), Simas Lukosius (6-8), Dillon Mitchell (6-8), Aziz Bandaogo (7-0) is the most common lineup, getting 67% of the minutes over the last five games.

-James is a strong assist man at 69th in the country in assist rate. For comparison, Elijah Hawkins is 29th in the country. Mitchell and Bandaogo are some of the most efficient players in the country within the arc, both within the top-100 with Mitchell at 35th.

-Day Day Thomas is probably the best 3p-shooting guard for Cincy. He shoots 38.5% from beyond the arc while Lukosius has fired and made more, he has shot it at a 37.4% clip.
