Don't know how many on this site had the pleasure to watch Bill Russell play center for the Boston Celtics. He was one of the great defensive centers of all time and a Hall of Famer. One thing that he became somewhat famous for was his shot blocking. He was 6'10' and had great anticipation and timing. But the thing that stood out was not just that he blocked so many, but how he left so many in areas for teammates to recover the ball. I thought of that watching Holyfield the last 2 minutes. TJ made 3 big blocks in the last couple of minutes. The first one he swatted out of bounds. The horns got it back and had time for another shot but missed. The next two shots he blocked were recovered by Tech, the second by Holyfield himself. That wasn't an accident. Too many players want to get on a highlight reel so they send a blocked shot in to the bleachers, flex their muscles, and pose for the cameras. Any block is good, and a little intimidation is awesome, but it's much better when it results in a change of possession.
