Any of you fellars ever take the GMAT?

I'm applying to a few business schools, and all I have left is to take the GMAT. I just took a practice test and holy hell does that make my brain hurt. I also absolutely bombed it.

Are the practice exams pretty similar to the real thing? Any tips to getting higher scores, besides "take the test high, get high scores."?
