Tech handled business against Lamar in one that was never really a game to close out the non-con slate. Big 12 play is just ten days away.
Here are a few takeaways from the game…
21-4 run packs it up: Tech was able to really create separation and never look back in this one. It felt over after around 11 minutes into the game, where Tech took a lofty lead after a 21-4 run that started when the game was 7-7 in the early stages. Tech’s defensive effort was improved throughout.
Anderson has highlight moments: Was really impressed with the freshman at moments in this one. Creating in transition, finishing with the reverse, hitting shots off the bounce. It was all pretty strong for him in this one. Exciting to see him continue to get better as a young player. Really cool to see him hit for 20 points.
D5 handles Toppin/Fede-less five role: Darrion ended up having a great game in this one. Was able to fight through a slowish start and really come alive offensively. Without Toppin and Federiko, D5 was asked to play the five when EY was off the floor and he handled it well. Really good day from him and he helped Tech get to the break, where they hope to have the bigs back on the other side.
Chance continues to rise: It’s been an excellent month of December for McMillian. In extended minutes, McMillian played a really strong game offensively. He has some of the best bounce and athleticism on the floor for Tech and it’s really impressive to see the growth that he took from last year to this year. He might be this team’s best scorer, and you better hope that can continue into Big 12 play.
Ready for real ball when we come back. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
