First off, I've never made a sports bet in my life, so I'm not speaking from experience.
However... I have known multiple people who will intentionally bet against the team they are rooting for.
The thought process is this: "How much would you pay for us to win tomorrow?" Is it $50? $100? $1000? Whatever that amount is, you bet it against us. That way you hedge your emotional pain with financial gain.
Is this generally thought of as bad form, or is it fairly common?
