Trey Quinn, a sophomore inside receiver at LSU, has announced he's going to transfer. If you remember back to the 2014 class, Tech was very much involved with Quinn. So, based off what I've heard, here's the scoop:

*Quinn is an ideal slot receiver for a high powered, spread offense, and he wants to go somewhere that he can catch a lot of balls. That's obviously just not gonna be LSU with the way they're running the offense. So, an air raid or spread system of some kind is the sticking point here.

*It's still very early on in the process, but a few schools seem to be in the running already, including Houston, Tech, and an up and comer non-SEC school. They look to be firmly in the mix at this point. Could be a few others in there to.

*Why Houston? Well, its about a two and a half hour trip from Lake Charles, where Quinn is from. The obvious concern here, however, is about Tom Herman. Is he even going to be there by the time Quinn sits out and is able to play?

*Quinn's family is very active with football, as they make all the games. That includes his grandparents and others in the family. Proximity is a factor as a result, and that's why Houston is in the running, too.

*Seeing as he'll have to sit out a year, Quinn would miss the 2016 season, use his redshirt, and then be a redshirt junior in 2017.

Quinn is the national high school all-time leader in receiving yardage with 6,566 yards. He also has the most receptions in Louisiana high school state history with 357. He was named as a Parade and USA Today first team All-American his senior year. He was the number 73 overall prospect in the 2014 class, was the 6th ranked prospect in Louisiana, and the 10th ranked receiver.

Also worth noting that Quinn visited Lubbock on March 28th in 2013 for an unofficial visit. So, he's been to Lubbock before. When he committed to LSU, Quinn noted that Auburn, Clemson, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech were the other schools in the mix at the end.

More as we know it.
