Excellent Day For Tech Women's Golf

20 under par for today's two rounds at Medinah in Chicago. Third place five shots behind San Jose and Kentucky.

Many good efforts from the gals! Freshman Lauren Zaretsky followed her 72 with a bogey free 67. Not too shabby for our freshman! If only she wasn't our no.6 independent and as such didn't count for the team score! but all good. OU and OSU way back....

Old Man Thread: Crepe Myrtle Talk

What the hell is going on with Crepe Myrtles, at least in the Plano/Frisco/Dallas area?

Anyone else's leaves getting all slimly/waxy and falling off? I've been told they're aphids, and while this happens nearly every year, it's never been this bad for my area and always treatable. I've always used this in a granule form and it's worked great but after two applications, it's just kinda working. Whatever it is, it's BAD this year.

My son's school has a sidewalk lined with probably 20 and they all look terrible. I guess the leaves will start falling off for Fall soon enough but this drives me insane.

Railroad Strike

This will get moved to the EEF soon enough but think it's a big enough deal to post here...

Update (1155ET):

It's becoming increasingly possible that a major freight rail stoppage could materialize following the news thousands of rail workers rejected labor agreements this morning.

The 4,900 members from District 19 under the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) voted against the Tentative Agreement (proposed collective bargaining agreements that have not been ratified) with the National Carriers' Conference Committee (NCCC).

IAM District 19 released the following statement:

"The Tentative Agreement has been rejected and the strike authorization vote was approved by IAM District 19 members. Out of respect for other unions in the ratification process, an extension has been agreed to until Sept. 29, 2022 at 12 p.m. ET. This extension will allow us to continue to negotiate changes with the NCCC in the hopes of achieving an agreement our membership would ratify.
"IAM freight rail members are skilled professionals who have worked in difficult conditions through a pandemic to make sure essential products get to their destinations. We look forward to continuing that vital work with a fair contract that ensures our members and their families are treated with the respect they deserve for keeping America's goods and resources moving through the pandemic. The IAM is grateful for the support of those working toward a solution as our members and freight rail workers seek equitable agreements."
IAM District 19 members are locomotive machinists, track equipment specialists, and maintenance personnel.

This comes as the US Labor Secretary Marty Walsh met with freight railroad companies and union officials Wednesday morning to avert a strike that could result in a nationwide shutdown of the freight rail system as soon as Friday.

Message Board Geniuses -- Aggies can still win national title

For those who don't follow Message Board Geniuses on Twitter, you're really missing out. He's been profiled by The Athletic but spends a lot of time combing college athletics message boards for the heights of stupidity. As you can imagine, it's easy fishing.

I think he takes up residence at Texags., which is the Mt. Everest of Delusional. On any other message board, this would be an obvious troll. But with Aggy, all bets are off.

The comments are gold. My favorite: "If you're not the dumbest mo fo on the planet, you better hope he doesn't die."

40th birthday- Looking for 2 basketball tickets for 11-10 (Texas Southern) and 11-14 (Louisiana Tech) - GOT EM THANKS

Howdy,

So, my wife is taking me to Red River, NM for my 40th birthday. Some fellow TTU grads living in Colorado are going to meet us there. Should be a blast.

I realized that Lubbock is about halfway there for us since we are driving, and that I would like to go to home basketball games on 11-10 on our way there, and on 11-14 on our way home. If anyone has any seats that they won't use for these weeknight non-con games I could sure put them to use.

I posted on the Tickets thread as well, but wanted to post here since people on the tickets thread are mainly concerned with football tickets at this time. Thanks in advance. Wreck Em'!

OT: Met Bob Lilly this morning and The Ticket will be broadcasting from my city today

So, Willow Park is having the 3rd Annual Rayfield Wright Golf Tournament at Squaw Creek Golf Course. Rayfield died earlier this year, but he started a golf tournament to raise money for 1st Responders. He lived in Willow Park, and was a great ambassador for WP. Anyway, former Cowboys from that era have made their way to WP over the years. I got to meet Bob Lilly last year, and we had a great talk today about the Cowboys, TCU, and Texas Tech. Anyway, the PIO took this pic.

Norm Hitzges will be broadcasting from the Tournament as well.

End of PSA. Have a great day folks.
