So anyway... Tech Basketball

Moving on from the Hudson news
Texas Tech Basketball has a big week on tap

Tech currently #20 in KenPom as of Yesterday's update
7-0 Depaul coming to the LBK midweek
Then headed to Fort Worth on Sunday to take on the damn Aggies

Depaul 8:15pm Wednesday - ESPNU (Big East/Big 12 Challenge)
Depaul isnt as good as their record, #99 in KenPom
They haven't played any names yet so you are their first real test
However, they can really shoot it
Tech is currently 9th in the country in 3 point percentage
Depaul is only 2 spots back of that at #11
Another trap-ish game like St. Joes if you dont come ready or get off to a slow start

#20 Texas A&M 2:00pm Sunday - ESPN2
Hate to admit it, but the Aggies are decent and at #27 in KenPom
They are a bit up and down at times but they are extremely athletic
They have played a legit schedule so far and have beaten Ohio State, Creighton and Rutgers
They have lost to UCF and Oregon
And they still play a solid Wake Forest team before they get to you Sunday
Hard to know exactly how good they are but, they are gonna be a real challenge
And frankly, you need that win badly

This is it though, you have only 4 games left until you open conference play vs UCF on New Years Eve
Really not a fan of this non-con schedule this year, especially looking at the Aggies going out and getting battle tested
We have to do better with challenging ourselves in the non-con @Robert G or whoever needs to hear it

You really need to go 2-0 this week and have something on your resume before Big 12 play starts
Sunday is a big game particularly and not just because its those weirdos from College Station

Ill let @chaseallen_44 do the full player breakdown, but some good tests this week as we wrap up the non-con slate

OT: Fascinating evesdropping

Alrighty...let’s get the big issue out of the way...yes, I’m a scumbag... but we knew that already and let’s not have that get in the way...

I am sitting here in Whatburger having my #4 in between shopping stops, and this woman sits down about two booths over and what caught my eye, aside from her enormous cans, was the fact that she seems a bit overdressed for Whataburger... (which is a funny phrase in itself) she’s wearing a green sequined blouse of the type you’d expect her to wear to the company Christmas party of the wholesale carpet company where I suspect she probably works as an accounts payable clerk. She’s mid to late 30’s.

In walks a guy, roughly the same age, not overdressed for Whataburger... and she stands and says “I recognized you when you got out of your truck...” or something like that and they do that “lean-in” hug thingy and they sit down and she grabs his hands across the table...

It is like they met on line and this is their first in-person meeting... from the body language she seems to be pinging him to see if he’s on the up and up without trying to be too obvious about it. This is entertaining...I went and refilled my large drink.... I wish I had ordered the large fries.

SIAP: Does Tahj play in the bowl game?

With a high-character player like him and the culture that McGuire had created, I assume he will play, but at the same time, it would be understandable if he opted out.

Hope he plays obviously, but he’s earned the right to sit too. Unlike recruiting decommits, I will respect his decision.

If there was an announcement on this, I missed it.

Texas Tech played 5 of the top 6 teams in the Big 12 this season.

When the season began, most of us thought TTU football had one of the easier schedules in the Big 12.

According to the preseason Big 12 poll, our schedule was easy.

In the end, TTU football played 5 of the top 6 teams in the conference.

Finishing 8-4 and 6-3 in conference is a huge improvement. (3-1 in conference on the road too)

Haters will say these are screwed stats.

Joey is the guy. Just wait until he has a DECENT defense.

Just going to leave this here: Hudson

From UT’s Anwar whatever his name is.

* I spoke to multiple coaches this week – not at UT – who told me they heard Texas Tech freshman receiver Micah Hudson is considering entering the transfer portal after a disappointing first season in Lubbock. Hudson has only compiled eight receptions for 123 yards (zero touchdowns) this season. Texas was previously interested in Hudson. Anything can happen between now and when the transfer portal window opens on December 9 (closes on December 28). For now, take a mental note.
