Fruit Fly Madness

Anyone else having a particularly bad invasion of these damn little bastards? Seems to be getting worse. There is never food left out on counters etc so not sure why they are so bad this past month. Anyone have the same issue? Remedies? We’ve tried the apple cider vinegar bath, the plug in lights. We just this evening ran bleach down all drains and plugged all drains so we’ll see if that helps.

If the timestamp link doesn't work, go to the 42:53 mark to hear a fast discussion on Texas Tech. We are slowwwwwwly (maybe) earning some respect from them. But they posed an interesting question.

Our preseason O/U was 7.5. Sitting at 5-1 do we hit the over? I think they're a little too high on other Big12 teams, notable baylor and tcu. Do we get there? I think so, you?

Poll question:
Something about why our fans want to keep trashing Kittley and Morton when our offense has obviously been good and much better than our defense. Is it proof that the USNWR rankings are accurate? Or are those the t-shirt fans?

I agree our defense was very good in the first half this week and made key stops in 2nd half and other games.

Those who choose 'other' are welcome to explain themselves.

The Ticket-CFB

I don’t listen as much as I used to but still a fair amount.

It is driving me pretty crazy that despite being 5-1 we get absolutely no mention from any of the Ticket shows even though we are a large school with a giant base in Dallas.

I’m not sure if they signed an agreement with the sec since they were at their media days but the coverage is heavily centered in that direction.

On top of that and I know they are having a good year but they cover SMU a lot and not Tech.

At this point, it really does feel like a blatant attempt to not give our team any mention. I’ll stop my rant but it’s frustrating that every person up there seems to hate Tech since they all mostly went to UNT and like OU/Aggy.

So far, I'm really enjoying the Big 12

This is an interesting league in that it may not have a team ranked in the top 10 at the end of the season, but there are a lot
teams you could reasonably put in the Top 30-50 in this league. That makes for a lot of fun and interesting games to watch
every week. Also, I could argue that winning this league is as tough a challenge as any other conference because you don't
get many (or for some teams any) easy games. There's plenty of talent spread across the conference. Lots of close games
and not that many blowouts. As a fan, that's entertaining as far as I'm concerned. I kind of hope this conference stays in place
because Tech has a reasonable opportunity to elevate the program nationally if they can be successful in this Big 12 and
that is at least possible now that we are on a more even playing field financially. It never felt realistically possible to me in the old Big 12. We'll see how it goes.

CULTURE

I’ve been thinking about this a lot.

During the Kliff (and to a lesser extent Wells years) we’d often look good for a half or so, only to collapse and fold like a wet napkin in the second half. Often losing in a blowout or via dumb mistakes late.

Under Joey, we’ve been pretty good in one score games, even after letting opponents stick around or come back. To be clear, I’d like to see that get fixed, but I can’t help but see a culture shift under Joey. We take punches and answer the bell every time as opposed to going down.

It’s a new culture here, and we should start expecting to pull out tough wins as opposed to the “Typical Tech” bullshit folks start pulling out in the third quarter of these games.
