I have posted about a Sailplane / Glider Club For Tech Folks

I live in Ft Worth, but grew up in Lubbock. I flew sailplanes and contests at Hobbs, etc. for years and towed glider as well in L 19 and Pawnee. I have a Citibria now. Never put a dent in anything.

I wanted to start a sailplane / Glider Club in the Lubbock area. I helped financially form one at Hamilton and Houston.

I have been talking with area airports about this. We have one that is interested.

I would buy the glider. Maybe we name it Raider Red! Ha

The folks think it will be slow going on the glider side but are to be a 501 C so donations like mine will be tax deductible.

We have access to a network of folks with the ability to donate some Equipment. They suggest and I agree, to set up a Flying Club with a Cessna 150 or the like and then tip toe into the glider side. Power pilots transition very east to gliders.

If you have the time and interest there is a lot of activity at Morarity New Mex. I think you can go there and get your glider rating fast. Then all glider hours transfer one for one to power. I will keep you informed when I am told I can identify the place. We try to find airports one to one half hours from Lubbock. You have wonderful weather all around you. I have flow 2 contest at Littlefield.

I was one of the Founder of the Houston Club in late 70s, now 200 with 4 top competition pilots and one on US World Team, Ken Sorenson.

I was co founder of Hamilton Soaring Club about 4 years ago, about the size of Crosbyton and now has 90 members' and a National contest starting next week. The largest group in years, 35 folks from all over USA. If you are interested buy the book, Tech RB Bath uncle, a Medical Doctor Gave us a $60,000 Glider!! The joy of Soaring, the basic book . On top of everything else today, TTU's saving the quail population!

A new medicated feed that combats deadly parasites in wild quail will be available to the public starting this fall. The new drug was developed by researchers at Texas Tech University with the financial support of Texas bird hunters, and it has proven effective in experimental settings on multiple ranches in the Lone Star State.

Came across this one on Amazon Prime. If you're looking for a few hours of escape with Farrelly Bros. brand of humor, this one fits the bill. I'm not even a fan of John Cena, but he was good in this.

Water Restrictions in Coppell, Tx to 2 times per week between May 1st and September 30th. Fines of $500 to $2000 starting in 2025.

How many others on here in various cities have these restrictions? From my experience in Texas Summer you need to water at least 3 times a week to keep everything from dying. My plan now would be to rurn my sprinkler times up to 20 minutes and on water days water at 4 AM and again at 8 PM at night. Last year they restricted us to 3 days and turned the sprinklers up to 15 minutes an we still lost shrubs in my back yard. I think there may be some blow back particularly if we have a hot dry summer. I saw where Lewisville did the same thing. On TV news it said Dallas has these restrictions now. Our City Council must have some wacko environmentalists on there.

Pat Mahomes , etc

I mentioned on this board awhile back about a magazine I found on Pat Mahones. It was amazing. I was impressed that his wife has been his girlfriend since Jr High!

Now last night on news it said the Secret Service Lady resigned and see was very good friends of Joe and Jill Biden? WHAT?

Trump had been requesting more security but ignored. Most interesting indeed !!! ???

A all West Texas group mostly from Odessa run the Hamilton Soaring Club, look at its web Page.

Tech RB Batch uncle gave us a 65000 glider. We have a contest in about at week, A national contest. Most of the guys are ex airline pilots. World Glider Chap is in Ulvalde a week later and 2 of our guys will be towing.

Still working on a West Texas Glider Club I will fund. It is making progress and I will try very hard to get it going. You live in one of the best places in America to soar. 70 percent of the days are flyable and 50 percent are soarable. Hubcity/ Monterey/ Tech/ Houston/ Ft Worth

Electricity question

Good evening folks, I’m in need of some guidance and I figure you lot would be able to help. In a couple weeks I’ll be moving into a one bedroom apartment on my own. The place I’m currently at includes utilities in the rent so I haven’t had to get electricity set up, at this new place I will.

This apartment I’m moving into is off 34th and Milwaukee, and I’m wondering yalls opinions on electric providers, who has the best deals, who I should go with, etc. Any help would be appreciated, TIA!
