Tyson - 1st round pick?

This was brought up in the Portal thread. Below are some write-ups on Tyson now projected as a 1st round pick. Could he be the best NBAer of all red raiders the past 10 years or will that belong to TJ or Kev?

Note the last link above at nba.com. Shannon, McCullar and Tyson are projected to go in the 1st round.

Economic Spin Zone

For nearly 4 years and even during the pandemic recovery, we saw Economist get lambasted by consistently over predicting jobless claims only for those number to come back positive. Those numbers were then further revised in future weeks showing even better than expected results. This was in stark contrast to the previous 8 years under Obama where figures were consistently revised downward a week or so later after data was originally published. Now we are seeing the same crap with another Dem in the Whitehouse.

"New weekly jobless claims unexpectedly rose by 13,000 to 861,000 in the week that ended February 13, the Department of Labor said Thursday.
Economists had expected claims to fall to 768,00 from the 793,000 initially reported for the prior week. The previous week’s figure was revised up by 55,000 to 848,000"

The revision to increase last weeks claims changes the narrative from positive to not so good.

Look for this shady deception to continue for the next few years. The elites will use smoke and mirrors to make recovery better than it appears only to go back and revise data later on when few folks pay attention.

Just going to leave this here: Hudson

From UT’s Anwar whatever his name is.

* I spoke to multiple coaches this week – not at UT – who told me they heard Texas Tech freshman receiver Micah Hudson is considering entering the transfer portal after a disappointing first season in Lubbock. Hudson has only compiled eight receptions for 123 yards (zero touchdowns) this season. Texas was previously interested in Hudson. Anything can happen between now and when the transfer portal window opens on December 9 (closes on December 28). For now, take a mental note.

Official 2024 Election Thread (Very Political)

As of yesterday, we are six months out from Election Day. Figure we need a new thread to bring in some new posters with some refreshing takes! Let's not run them off right way NYC and RRR, give them a chance to partake.

Who will win the worst Presidential Election in the history of our great nation?

Unless there is a serious slip up, not just one of his usual gaffes by Biden, I think he wins. I just don't see how Trump with his half a dozen trials he's in, wins.

RECRUITING: Football fall 2024 transfer portal discussion thread - pres. by Chocolate Milk

Might as well get it started with us less than a month away from the portal opening. As a reminder the new dates this year are December 9th-28th.

Some needs I see Texas Tech pursuing in the portal include running back, offensive tackle, defensive tackle, outside linebacker/edge, and cornerback.

Will be interesting if we start to see any familiar names in the portal. Some guys have already started entering.

Of course, any major updates will receive their own thread but since we’ve started doing these mega threads a few years ago they’ve gotten lots of discussion and people seem to like them so here it is.

Official TxTech Ticket Sales Thread

I posted somewhere else and decided this is a great place to start

I figured we could have a central location for people to post tickets they can't use instead of wasting money on Seatgeek, or risking our opponents buying them.

I have 4 North Club tickets that are available for every game other than CU (the ONLY game I can make this year smh)

Let me know what game you need and we can work out a deal

Hopefully others will post seats available on here and we can act like the Purple Aggies and block visiting fans from buying our seats

Thanks and Wreck'em

  • Poll
Geno Auriemma Breaks Coaching Record with 1217 Wins

Geno Auriemma should properly be called:

  • A) The Winningest Women's Basketball Coach

  • B) The Winningest College Basketball Coach

  • C) An asshole for taking the record away from a woman in a women's sport

  • D) A and C

  • E) All of the Above

Results are only viewable after voting.

Obviously a great achievement, and he's obviously a great coach. BUT...

They are calling him the winningiest college basketball coach, period, and I don't think he would have won that many games if he coached Men's basketball. The women's game is a different sport and there wasn't (and really still isn't) nearly as much parity in WBB as there is in MBB. There is definitely more parity now than when Geno started, but we still see quite a few 100-22 type blowouts in WBB whereas we rarely see them in the men's game.
