Journalistic Malpractice

Had this level of screwup happened in an honest industry, there would have been wholesale changes in personnel across the board. The modern Democrat’s media is more concerned with Joe Biden winning than they are about reporting the truth. The modern Democrat’s media, in conjunction with the Democrat’s FBI, who should have verified and debunked the “51 former intelligence agencies” political hacks and operatives, were obviously completely involved in their own “Russia style misinformation” campaign.

History will judge these jacklegs harshly.

You can’t blame anyone for believing the stories back then. You can, however, blame them for believing similar stories now. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. The Alvin Bragg “legitimate” prosecution of Trump is a shining example of willful ignorance.

Alamo Drafthouse Files for Chapter 11

@Kyle_Kaufman the article mentions that they will be closing down “underperforming locations.” What does this mean for the Lubbock location?

I saw this tweet from them yesterday and thought it was weird because their locations have been closed...

OT: Atmos Billing Issues

Anybody ever had problems with Atmos and their billing system? I got a bill saying I owe them $2146 for under payment from January through May of this year. They admitted their wireless meter was faulty but said they were able to read the flow on the actual device. Keep in mind that they acknowledge the meter was faulty for 6 months and only "fixed" the issue when we called in about the massive bill we received.

I wouldn't have an issue paying what is owed but my gas bill has NEVER been above $250/month and the only gas appliances I have are my furnace and stove. Rep admitted that no adjustments were made in April or May so basically they undercharged me by $700/month for the first 3 months of this year according to their system.

I understand that prices fluctuate and usage and all that but to basically triple my gas bill for 3 months because of price fluctuations (even though price per cubic foot is down this year compared to last year) is absurd. I've asked them for a breakdown of daily charges and an itemized bill to show the difference in bills.

OT: PS5 or XBOX

My son, almost 10, is at the point where gaming beyond a switch is now interesting to him. I know next to nothing about these consoles, other than there's a download only version of XBOX that is cheaper, and that some games are only available on one or the other platform. His best friend has the online-only XBOX so obviously getting an XBOX would allow them to play together (I think) [would I have to get the online only version too? wouldn't think so but again, know nothing].

Any advice much appreciated. Also, he mostly plays lego star wars, mario cart, and a few other switch games, and it seems the few games I've heard he is interested in are on both platforms. I would ask him what he prefers but it is a surprise so that's unfortunately not an option.

Also - did not want to hijack the other PS5 thread about the football game.

RELEASE: Darcel McBath returning to Tech on McGuire’s staff

LUBBOCK, Texas – Darcel McBath, one of the top defensive backs in school history with seven years of experience coaching the position at the power-five level, will return to his alma mater as a football staff analyst, Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire announced Wednesday.

In his role, McBath will assist with Texas Tech’s advance scouting, providing weekly analysis of opponents on both sides of the ball for offensive coordinator Zach Kittley and defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter. He will also “self-scout” the Red Raiders, identifying in-game tendencies on a weekly basis.

“We’re excited to welcome Darcel and his family back home to Texas Tech,” McGuire said. “With his experience, Darcel will be an asset to both our offensive and defensive staffs in this newly-created role on our staff.”

A longtime assistant under the late Mike Leach, McBath returns to his alma mater following four seasons as the cornerbacks coach at Mississippi State (2020-23) and two additional years in a similar capacity at Washington State (2018-19). He began his coaching career as a quality control assistant at North Texas in 2016 before moving to Washington State in the same role the following season.

Mississippi State boasted two of its top cornerbacks in its history under McBath as he mentored both Martin Emerson, a third-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, and Emmanuel Forbes, the No. 16 overall selection of the 2023 NFL Draft. Forbes, a consensus All-America selection as a senior in 2022, ranked third in the country that season with six interceptions and set the NCAA FBS record after returning his sixth interception for a touchdown.

Prior to joining the coaching profession, McBath played five seasons in the NFL after being selected in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. McBath spent two seasons with the Broncos before moving on for one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers where he was a member of the Super Bowl XLVII roster.

Kid is from Stephenville (played on those state title teams) and a student at Tech. Hes been blowing up with some of his covers on TikTok and currently blowing up with his newly released single “Take It Slow”.

Figured I’d share it with fellow Red Raiders. Hes playing a live show at Cook’s in 806 this weekend.
