According to national hoops analyst Jon Rothstein, Zach Smith has declared for the NBA Draft. Pretty surprised by this, honestly.

Without anymore knowledge, that's my assumption: Test the waters and see what happens, what feedback he gets, etc.

We'll let you guys know once we find out more.

UPDATE: So, here's the deal: As I assumed, Smith has decided to enter the draft process to test the waters and get a feel for what he needs to do, get some feedback on where he's at as a player, etc.

It's also worth noting that he'll go through some draft workouts, and in those workouts, you have to match a certain number of criteria and judgements from NBA folks to even be allowed to move forward in the process.

Smith has not hired an agent and has no intent of hiring an agent, meaning he can come back to and play at Tech if he bows out at a certain point in the draft process.

Worth noting that Texas Tech and everyone on Coach Beard's staff are 100 percent supportive of Zach in this, too.

He also spent quite a bit of time with Malik Ondigo on his visit last night, too.

Just wanted to update for you guys.
