Despite seemingly dominated by the LSU front, Tech was a foot away from scoring the 2nd-most points against them all season. Ole Miss, at home, scored 38. And there was also a drive to their 15 that resulted in no points.
What I take from this is the obvious -- how our horrendous defense just casts a pall over every game. It just puts everyone in a funk no matter what the offense does, and offensive production tends to get downplayed in blowout losses. Alabama scored 31 on them in Tuscaloosa.
My point is, if this defense can just get to 50th or 60th in the country -- forget top 25, that's unrealistic -- but just the median for FBS, and can keep the offensive production that Kliff has shown virtually every year, this is a 9-win, possibly 10-win program.
Of course, the big question is can they? Maybe in 2017. We'll see.
