John Paul II wide receiver Jerand Bradley committed to the Red Raiders in early February, and the 6-foot-5, 206-pound prospect mentioned his time as a varsity and AAU basketball player when discussing his commitment.
Since moving to John Paul II a few years ago, Bradley has become close friends with Jaylon Tyson, the Men's Basketball program's newest 2021 commitment.
"Jaylon was my first friend when I moved to JPII," Bradley said. "We have been very close ever since, he is one of my best friends. We talked about going to the same college and both playing at Texas Tech a lot. We visited Lubbock together for the games against Kansas and Kentucky, and I spent my time with the football coaches while he visited the basketball program."
Bradley shared his thoughts on his friend committing to Coach Beard and the Red Raiders.
"It is exciting because I have been watching his basketball journey. I see how hard he works and it is all paying off. I'm even more thrilled he is coming to school with me again at Texas Tech."
As a fellow standout athlete and former basketball teammate, Bradley shared his thoughts on Tyson's game on the court.
"He has the killer instinct, the dog mentality and everything needed in a pro basketball player. His future is very bright at Texas Tech. Jaylon started taking over games and scoring a ton of points as the season went on, and he especially made a name for himself in the playoffs."
Bradley and the entire 2021 football recruiting class shared the following edit on social media yesterday. He mentioned the class is getting to know one another lately.
"It is fun just getting to know and understand the new kids on the block (laughs). We have a text group and we have been talking a lot."
Rated as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the nation, Bradley continues to add new offers even with his verbal commitment to the Red Raiders.
South Carolina and FIU have offered in the month of May, and Bradley's coaches at John Paul II mentioned that both Baylor and LSU have been recruiting the Texas Tech commit lately.
The JPII coaches did say the commitment from Tyson goes a long way with Bradley, meaning it solidifies his long term commitment to the Red Raiders in a situation where other programs were coming after him over the past few months.
