Watched the 1st half. Was saying it it multiple threads, but better than 90% of our bad plays, and SHSU explosive plays are due to one if not all of the following: bad angles, poor tackling, missed assignments, and simply not getting lined up. Not going to excuse what happened....it was bad. However, the missed assignments were not there in 2nd half, and the 4 TOs. Bad tackling, poor angles, overrunning plays can be corrected and will get better over the season. All are correctable.

Here is what I did see, scheme wise, we protected our DBs, but that put pressure on the LBs, who knew what they needed to do most of the time, but didn't trust what they saw. In other words, hesitant and inexperienced play. Awe was everywhere, but didnt wrap up. Went for knock out blows that didn't work. This scheme will give up yards, and Gibbs could careless for the most part. He wants TOs. Rankings are measured by Total Yards giving up. We wont fare well here. But we will in TOs, which is a higher priority. We will be more like the OK State defense circa 2012 or so.

I don't think UTEP will present the challenge of SHSU. They will line it up, and run right at you. Jones is their offense. It will be a good warm up for Arkansas.

Here's the Yet. If we do not improve, specifically in missed tackles, we are in for a long year.
