I distinctly remember Trump saying (lying) the Republicans were on rhe verge of passing a huge middle class tax cut back in October. This tax cut was going to pass "in the next couple of days" despite the fact CONGRESS WAS NOT IN SESSION.
I guess the GOP calculated lying was better than running on a tax cut that is wildly unpopular with non rich people.
