It's interesting to read in various posts when posters finally knew Kliff was not the person for the job. Tells you about different levels of patience, or what was the final straw. For some it was a game, others a body of work.

Initially, it wasn't a game for me. The 2016 season was a turning point. It was now Year 4. Coming off a 7-win season and with one of the top QBs in the country, and we just floundered because of an awful defense and some of the same mistakes. Combined with the poor recruiting, I just didn't see this thing turning around.

And then, we get off to the 4-1 start this year, and we're up on W. Virginia, 35-17, in third quarter, and I'm thinking, "Holy s---! How glad I am I as wrong. Patience has been rewarded. We're going to win 8-9 games!"

And, then of course, the bottom fell out in a 29-0 finish. I was really soured, and then not firing a shot against Iowa State at home the next week. That told me all I needed to know. You can't trust this program. There's no upward trajectory. It's Year 5. Even if we were to get to a 6th win and a bowl, we're just mired on a treadmill of mediocrity.

What did it for you?
