... The three most consistent players on Texas Tech's offense so far this season have been Jack Anderson, Terence Steele and Antoine Wesley. Think about it, in just six games, the Red Raiders have started three different quarterbacks, had just one running back play more than 150 snaps (Ta'Zhawn Henry, 189), been forced to shuffle things on the offensive line due to injuries and been without T.J. Vasher for essentially a third of the season. Anderson and Steele have played 519 out of a possible 559 snaps and have graded out as the two best linemen of the normal starting five. Wesley, meanwhile, has played 473 snaps and graded out right behind Ja'Deion High - who has played 326 snaps - as the best receiver.
... If you look at only Big 12 games, the Red Raiders are third in scoring offense (30.7) despite playing the Nos. 1, 2 and 9 scoring defenses. That's pretty remarkable considering how inconsistent that group has been from a personnel has been over the last three games. Kansas is second-to-last and last in those categories, for whatever it's worth.
... Texas Tech will have just two home games - Oklahoma State on Oct. 5 and Iowa State on Oct. 19 - over a two-month span next season. The Red Raiders open up with back-to-back home games against Montana State and UTEP before playing five of their next seven games on the road. Throw in a couple of bye weeks and Kliff Kingsbury's team is going to be living out of suitcases for a while.
... Texas Tech and Oklahoma will open Big 12 play against each other on Sept. 28. Both teams will close out their non-conference schedule with a Pac-12 road game (UCLA for OU) on Sept. 14 and have an open week before facing each other. This is probably a sneaky good time for the Red Raiders to face the Sooners as they will be breaking in a new starting quarterback and, most likely, a new defensive coordinator.
... The Red Raiders will have an open week before visiting West Virginia on Nov. 9. The 'Eers don't get an off week, but they play at Baylor on Thursday, Oct. 31 so Dana Holgorsen's team will have a couple of extra days of rest. I looked through the other Big 12 schedules and it doesn't look like Texas Tech will face any other teams coming off of open/long weeks.
... The 2019 season looks to be Texas Tech's first since 2009 to feature two sets of back-to-back road games. Fortunately for the Red Raiders, both in 2019 are broken up by an open week.
... So, so, so much can change between now and Aug. 31, 2019 but looking ahead: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and West Virginia will each have new starting quarterbacks next season, while Kansas and Kansas State may have new head coaches.
