I'm not ~necessarily~ talking about the big picture stuff, like Tech's 1-point loss to TCU or the Micah Hudson situation but just of the little things about the 2024 season that really just annoyed the heck out of you -- for mainly no reason, too.
I'll start (in no particular order):
- Washington State (who I thought was going to be a lifeless team going into the game) trounced Tech. You look up and Washington State is sitting at 8-1 at one point. I'm thinking they are looking at a 10-2 or even 11-1 season. It makes the loss to them a bit more respectable... they then pee down their leg going 0-3 down the stretch to finish the season 8-4. ANNOYING.
- Baylor falls down out of the gates and starts off with a 2-4 record. Dead in the water. They then completely turn things around. 6 game winning streak. Finish season 8-4. ANNOYING.
- In the last 10 years, Tech has had 4 1,000-yard rushers in a season. With 3 out of those 4 seasons being 1,500+ yard rushers. Whenever I'm watching on TV sometimes the broadcasters say something like "Lubbock, TX. Home of the 5-wide and air-it-out offense." Or some heavy-handed reference to Tech being an Air-Raid team or something. That perception is still with Tech but really isn't the case anymore. Just seems lazy by the broadcasters. ANNOYING.
- There are some premier RBs in this league. There are 8 1,000 yard rushers and 4 guys with 15+ TDs. In a season where Ollie Gordon has a pedestrian year, new guys emerge. I was ready for Tahj Brooks to be far and away the best Big 12 RB and a clear-cut favorite to sweep all 1st team All-Conference awards. Some of these other guys emerging (I'm looking at you Cam Skattebo) could hinder Tahj from getting his well-deserved flowers. I find that ANNOYING.
In the same spirit, what were some things (Tech, RRS, other teams, etc.) about the 2024 season that annoyed you?
