A person in my office floated this theory and while I don't think it is true it was interesting. When discussing UT willingness to cancel the season his thought was while it will be a financial hit for all schools there it is going to hit the non blue bloods much harder.
In the facilities arms race there have been several non traditional powerhouses that have been creeping up or having at close to equal facilities as some of the bloods. Financially it may set some schools back several years if not decades.
His thought is the Blue Bloods are willing to cancel because they know it would create a separation that would keep the like tOSU, UM, OU, UT, USC, ND, LSU, Bama, FSU, etc at the top and severely weaken the non power 5's like UCF and some of the non Blue Blood P5 like Tech, ISU, RU, etc.
I admit it sounds crazy but what say you?
