The coaches will host a handful of official visitors this weekend. We are working to confirm a few others, but wanted to go ahead and post a few of the names we have confirmed.
TE Brandon Frazier
DT Joshua Ellison
LB Krishon Merriweather
you can read more about Frazier's story here.
Merriweather is a JUCO prospect with new(er) offers from Oklahoma State and Purdue, so getting him onto campus this weekend is actually a win for the coaching staff. He led all JUCO players in tackles with 153 this season, so another immediate impact player at the linebacker position for next season. The 6-ft, 225-pound prospect will graduate in December and will have 3 years of eligibility at the D1 level.
on Ellison, I reached out to some recruiting industry friends that cover A&M who know the entire situation...he was a four-star out of high school in the 2019 class, we created his JUCO profile linked above.
"Ellison was not initially qualified last year. He worked on tests and raising his GPA during the second semester but had not gotten word back by summer. He went to Blinn CC and then found out midseason that he had indeed qualified with his high school GPA and tests.
"That meant he could leave at any point, and for some reason, A&M went in a different direction as of late. I haven't really received a definite answer, but I haven't pushed for one either. I know the Blinn coaches are trying to find him a new place to go next semester in January, since he is fully qualified.
"The coaches there think he is a future NFL guy. I had another JUCO coach tell me that he was a stud, but that he would take plays off too often. It could be attributed to his situation, but he definitely has the upside for sure."
