He was a QB at Canadian HS and a QB at West Texas A&M. Just four years ago, he was the OC at Seminole HS. Yeah, Seminole, 80 miles south of Lubbock. Now he's in his second year as OC/QB coach at Washington State. Obviously on the fast track.
He and Kittley were together at Western Kentucky. When Kittley left for Tech, Arbuckle took over as OC in 2022 where they were sixth in the country in total offense at 497.3 yards and 15th in scoring at 36.5 ppg. And this was after Bailey Zappe had left.
He coached Cam Ward in 2023 in his first year as OC. Fourth in the country in passing yards a game at 336 yards, and averaged 31.7 ppg. Should Kittley depart for whatever reason at some point, it's a name to remember. I'm not saying he's any kind of home run hire -- for all I know, he may be a Kittley Klone -- but he certainly has something going for him.
