Taking the wife and two kids (10 and 8) with me to a conference for 5 days in DC. I usually do 2.5 days in class and then we sightsee for a couple as well.
We are staying downtown close to the convention center. Any good kid friendly recommendations? I'm wondering if walking the monuments is safe at night since it's going to be scorching during the day. We are definitely going to do the capital building (already have a tour through Arrington's office), a few smithsonian's, Ford's theater, the monuments and Arlington cemetery.
