With Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury looking at a do-or-die year in Lubbock next season, I'm hearing from some folks inside the college football world that Art Briles is attempting to position himself to be the Red Raiders' next head coach if the job comes available. Briles is a West Texas native and a former Tech assistant, and I am told he is "friendly" with a few Tech boosters. It should also be noted that Tech has a history of hiring controversial coaches on the rebound, like basketball legend Bobby Knight.
