I know some is being made out of this but the level of war to which Beard is weighing on Texas Tech seems unprecedented in college circles. Maybe there were some messy break-ups where a HC tried to harm a program that I can't remember, but what he has been doing seems way, way outside normal decency and unwritten rules. If I recall, Tubby left the program but didn't really pursue our players or recruits at all. I can't remember how many coaches he did or didn't take with him. This to me, particularly for a program that gave you everything, has always been the standard for leaving a job, be it in football or basketball.

Beard on the other hand seems to have tried to completely gut our coaching staff, roster, and recruiting. He may have said the hell with it, this isn't going to play well anyhow, so I might as well try to destroy my competition. Beyond him waiting for the buyout to drop by a million and leaving at the stroke of midnight...the manner in which he's handled himself seems like he's going way beyond anything I can remember in terms of leaving with class and respect for a program/fan base. It seems like violations have to be going on behind the scenes with how some of these things are playing out but guessing we'll never be able to prove it. I sort of wonder if this is how the admin/AD views it at this point.
