Admittedly I’m not sure what our final intenerary will be as this thing keeps growing and changing. However, this summer I’m thinking about loading up the old family truckster and heading West. Originally was thinking I’d drive to Four Corners (Farmington, NM) then head to the Grand Canyon. However, in looking at the Grand Canyon I’m having trouble finding a place to stay that isn’t $300+ a night or 2 hours away. So any loading tips there would be good. I have found some stuff of Air BNB that might work.

We might scrap the Grand Canyon altogether and replace it with or just add on Monument Valley - haven’t even looked for hotels here yet, but I’m guessing there aren’t any because it’s in the middle of nowhere.

From there we’re thinking about heading South and going to Tombstone and seeing the OK Corral and all that jazz - oh, and of course The Thing in Dragon, AZ - ya know, because that so awesome. But what would a road trip west be without stopping at a cheap roadside attraction.

Anyway, any advice on any of these places (where to stay, what to do see, places to eat). It will be my family and another family (5 kids total - woof), but we’ll be in the desert most of the trip and there are plenty of places to hide bodies out there.
