Exchanged a few texts with Cal grad transfer RB Tre Watson just now.
He’s gonna make a decision on Thursday or Friday this week, gonna be between Tech, LSU, and Texas since he’s visited all three the last three weekends.
I’ll admit that I don’t have a great feel for how this is gonna go. Tech is probably the best opportunity for him to get the most playing time and the best fit for his skillset, and you have the relationship with Coach Jones.
But I don’t know if the allure of playing at Texas or LSU means more to him.
We shall see, and I’ll get with him soon for a full update/preview to get a better feel...
UPDATE (Wed. 9:38 pm): Tre Watson told me tonight that he’s planning to announce his decision on Friday in the afternoon/evening, but he could move it back to Saturday, as he’s trying to finish up a project at Cal to finish out his semester. Still between Tech, Texas, and LSU.
UPDATE (Fri. 10:08 pm): Watson taking more time to make a decision. Will be Texas or Tech. He’s eliminated LSU.
UPDATE (Sun. 2:33 pm): I spoke with the Orangebloods recruiting analyst, Jason Suchomel, this afternoon. He is reporting that all signs point to Texas and spoke with Watson earlier today.
Watson told him that last night it was Texas Tech, then he woke up this morning and wasn't as sure. He spoke with his Mother and now it is looking more like Texas, however, Watson mentioned that he wants to speak with his Mother one more time before announcing this evening.
This seems like a very dramatic process, and I get that, but the kid is making a pretty big decision...and moving away from home, etc/etc.

UPDATE: I just spoke to Watson, he is announcing soon and it will be Texas.
Watson actually called the Tech staff last night and told them it would be the Red Raiders, woke up and changed his mind.
