I’m a very low mileage driver due to the fact that I am provided a work vehicle for daily commuting. Because of that, I put less than 3000 miles per year on my current vehicle. However, as my kids have gotten older, I’m wanting to take longer trips using my personal vehicle (hunting, fishing, etc). Also, I’d rather use it for Colorado vacations since we like to go a little off the beaten path for fishing/hiking/etc.

I am heavily leaning towards a 2016-2019 Tundra Crewmax. The idea will be to install a camper shell, have an 2.5” cool over suspension, run 33” or 34” AT tires, with some other mild off-road mods.

I’ll probably have it for awhile, and it sits a lot. I don’t tow anything of significance ever. My top needs are reliability, gas motor, backseat room, comfortable ride, and the ability to go on mild to medium off-road roads/trails.

Everyone bitches about the mpg of the tundra. I figure I’ll avg 13 with the tires I’ll have on it. At 10k miles per year (way above my avg), and assuming $2/gal, 13 vs 19 mpg results in a total savings of $500/yr. Completely insignificant, and I’m not sure there is a more reliable V8 than the Toyota 5.7L. At 5000 miles, it’s $250/yr (for all the mathematically challenged).

Thoughts? Curious how any of you that own one feel about the truck.
