Hello Red Raider Sports fam,
Kyle Henderson here, managing editor of the Alabama site BamaInsider.com. First off, I have family that lives in Lubbock and I visit often. I've hit a few golf balls there and ate a few breakfast burritos from Stripes as well as had some good times at Buffalo Springs Lake. I was actually stuck in the Lubbock airport two years ago flying to Miami for four to five hours. That part sucked.
What you're getting in Chadarius Townsend is a VERY versatile player. He played defensive back, receiver, and most recently running back at Alabama. He didn't see much time at Alabama because as you know it's an embarrassment of riches in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He moved from WR to RB because he wasn't going to see the field behind Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III, (both 1st round picks at WR) and wasn't going to play ahead of DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle (two future NFL guys).
They moved him to RB and he wasn't going to play in front of Five-star Najee Harris (or any of the RBs). He's got speed and great hands and I think he'll flourish in a system that creates a lot of offensive opportunities. The coaches were always high on him, but to see the field at Alabama you either have to wait your turn or be a guy that will surely shine on Sunday's. I don't think he's an NFL guy, but he's a guy that could make an instant impact for Texas Tech when he gets onto the field.
Spring game touchdown catch/run by Chadarius Townsend
I hope you have a great rest of your week.
