So during halftime I didn't have anything to do, so I thought I'd shoot a message to Brando over Twitter about his rant about the jerseys. I don't see the need to be a jerk about something like that, but as a viewer (Tech fan or not), it was awful television. So I send this:
Sir, if I can respectfully make an observation about the coverage today, the lack of a name was not a big deal & obviously not your fault. Harmless. But your decision to come back & focus on it made the broadcast super awkward to watch as a view, especially since it was as likely as not some poor intern who screen up. It should be addressed and fixed, but there was no reason to bring the viewers, who aren't worried about it, into the issue. It wasn't a good look at all.
Afterwards I go on with my day. Get on Twitter at the end and notice that the guy blocked me. So, basically, Brando gets bent completely out of shape because someone didn't let him know about the number change for a backup lineman who there's a 99% chance he won't mention in the game because he can't do his job without that information. Even though, in having that information, he can't keep who plays for what team straight. He's the type of guy who has no problem criticizing someone in front of however many people happen to be watching (but not to their face), but has no time to hear anything negative about himself.
I'm usually pretty forgiving when it comes to announcing gaffes. It's hard to fill 4-5 hours of air time. But that guy should be relegated to calling Division III women's basketball games.
