... This program is at its lowest point since the Jerry Moore era. The program has been flirting with this status for a couple of years, but this loss cements it. This failure has a room full of fathers but Matt Wells is tasked with fixing it.

... I had said all week that this would be a great barometer game for the offense. Texas Tech’s offense was toothless against the Big 12’s top defenses, but perhaps it would show more life against the league’s defensive dregs. It did, but barely. Certainly not enough to give anyone hope that it could carry the team to enough wins to make a bowl game.

... While the offense did not play as well as it could have, the defense lost this game with its complete inability to stop the big play. Words cannot accurately describe how awful the secondary was today. It deserves this scarlet letter more than any other position group on the team.

... Doug Coleman has had a great season, but he will forever be this program’s LeKevin Smith for fumbling that blocked FG. I realize he was trying to make a play, but secure the football first and foremost.

... Texas Tech led 17-0 in the first half and found a way to lose to Kansas.

... There have been worse losses from a point-spread standpoint. That being said, this is a loss that will connect with a lot of regular, rank-and-file fans in a way that most others won’t/wouldn’t. Losing to the worst team in the league over the last decade has a way of doing that.

... It’s going to be a long, long two weeks in Lubbock.
