I only caught pieces of the game live so just rewatched it....
I was really impressed with the entire defense. Jeffers was all over the place making plays. Loved his energy. Schooler is legit too. Howard had one of his best games I’ve seen. Tony Bradford was a problem for their O-line which was great to see. Hopefully he is getting coached on the facemask issues, as he had 1 costly penalty and another no-call that should’ve been. Thought Fields also made some nice plays and tackled well. I know WVU isn’t great on offense and had some drops, but they’re not terrible either and I was pretty impressed with Doege. The improvement on the defensive side of the ball is encouraging.
Offensively, all the RBs ran well and the interior OL did a good job creating space. I really like Thompson so hopefully he’s not gone too long. Brooks runs like a young Frank Gore. The WRs weren’t spectacular but had a number of important contested catches on 3rd and 4th down. I like Colombi. He doesn’t have a huge arm, as others have lamented, but he’s decisive and gives the offense another dimension with his running. He reminds me of Cody Hodges with his mobility and demeanor. You can definitely win games with a guy like that. He doesn’t seem to shy away from contact so hopefully he can stay healthy the rest of the way.
