*First, what a straight up fun game last night. That game embodied what makes me love college athletics. It was tense, the fans were VERY passionate, and both teams fought their tails off. Just about as a great a college baseball game as you can be at.

*Tip your hat to Ryan Shetter. That kid pitched his best performance of the season on a night when Tech needed him to the most. He stabilized that game defensively for the Red Raiders, and they lose without him, IMO.

*Another hat tip goes out to Tyler Stevens of New Mexico. That dude's change up fooled the best hitters in one of the country's best offenses all night long. Hell of a performance.

*I did think, however, that once we got into the sixth-seventh that Tevh started getting a little warmer at the plate, and once they saw different pitchers than Stebens, the light bulb came on. That was the difference, IMO.

*Tadlock is one of the best situational coach's in college baseball, IMO. Pinch hitting Ryan Long with two out and two on is something I know many were unsure about, but he wasn't. Tadlock loved his at-bat against Fairfield the night before, and he's loved how Long has performed under pressure at the plate all year. That all factored in, and it paid off in the biggest way possible.

*I heart The Bull. That's all.

*As for today, Tech could go with either Damron or Harpenau, but it's sounding more like Harpenau. You wonder how long his leash will be.

*And speaking of pitching, the great news is that Hayden Howard only pitched one inning last night. So, you have him, Moseley, Eden, Lanning, possibly Mushinski all out of the pen. You wonder if Tadlock would bring in Damron or Harpenau - depending on which starts - in relief, too. You empty the pen to make sure you close this thing out today.

*New Mexico and DBU play at 2, and Tech plays the winner at 6. Do you want to see New Mexico again or DBU for the first time? That's the debate. Either way, you gotta think it's gonna be hard for either to keep up pitching-wise this late in the regional with how many arms both will have used.
