AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin Police Sargent has been suspended indefinitely Friday for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old.
Internal investigators believe Sgt. Marci Laczko took a 17-year-old friend of the family on a trip to visit a college campus, without the permission of the girl's parents.
Text messages retrieved from Laczko's cell phone led investigators to determine she lied to her superiors about it, and inappropriately accessed a police report filed against her by the girl's parents.
A memo goes on to say Sgt. Laczko and the teen visited a university to try to convince her not to go to school in West Texas.
The teenage girl also told investigators she felt "manipulated" by Sgt. Laczko.
Laczo is now suspended indefinitely but does have the option to appeal.
