What we are watching should be barred from children.
Never in my long life have I ever seen a more pathetic excuse for a football team than this. At the risk of stating the obvious, a blind man can see how poorly coached this team really is.
Bonehead in game decisions by Wells; (Just saw us go for a field goal for no reason and after we finally have our offense going. Not even the broadcasters can figure that out.) Then not going for the chip shot field goal in the first half? Or our receiver dropping a perfect long pass late in the game?
Horrible play calling by Yost;
No defense, even against bad teams. (See Houston Baptist) How about the dropped interception in the first half where we could have walked into the end zone?
Dumb mistakes by everyone, most recent the PF by Beck;
Special teams breakdowns...
And all of this against a lousy TCU team.
I have always felt that any new coach should get at least three years to get his program going. Well, nobody expected Tech to win the Big 12 this year but we are clearly regressing. I don't think it would be asking too much to at least see some tangible progress. Wells has had time to get a decent QB and he has had time to get an average offensive line in place. And there is absolutely no excuse for one special team breakdown after another. The bottom line is that under Wells, Texas Tech always find a way to lose.
Jim Carlen inherited a very average roster from JT King back in 1970. Carlen's first team went 8-3 and went to the Sun Bowl. This is Wells' second year and we'll be lucky to beat Kansas. At the very least we should look like a Big 12 team, instead we have become a laughing stock.
In short, its time to stop the bleeding. This University must make a change the very minute this season is over. The fan base will not tolerate another lost season under Wells in 2021.
I would guess that Custer's Last Stand was more entertaining than watching this excuse of a program.
